It's known that the great man favoured gaiters, and ordered in 1710 that all infantry wear them, but how widespread would they have been before that?

Did British artillery wear them too?

I think it is reasonable to give the English infantry gaiters, although I have no specific evidence for this. BTW, do you plan on making a separate Dutch infantryman, perhaps with a less formal tricorne?

IIRC, only the British and Bavarians wore gaiters in the early partof the WSS (both also carried metal waterbottles, I think). I'm not sure if they could exactly pass for each other, but it possibly wouldn't hurt you to make them "generic".
