I would like to know if there is a big difference beteween Skytrex Hinchliffe vehicules size and MMS or SHQ vehicules size ?

I have a great collection of Skytrex Hinchliffe tanks but now that the range has been sold I can not complete my collection. The only way is to buy MMS or SHQ tanks but I don't know if their size exactly match with Skytrex Hinchliffe tanks.I know that EWM will release the vehicles in the future but very few are issued by month and it will take a very long time. Moreover, I would prefer to complete my collection with full metal vehicles.

Sorry if I made mistakes in English but I'm French.

Chris

Why not just buy the re-moulded and re-released Skytrex models?

20mm Zone have the ranges and are releasing them as they re-do all the models. So better quality and a cheaper price…

Paul who runs Early War Miniatures always posts new release news over on The Guild;

…and also here too;

Piers, he already answered that question in the OP – it'll be many months, probably a couple of years, before they can get through everything.

That said, I would wait if at all possible – MMS and SHQ are 1/76, Skytrex 1/72, and sometimes a bit on the large side at that, so I really wouldn't mix them unless I absolutely "had" to have a particular model right now. Size-wise, I find Britannia are usually the best "fit" with Skytrex, so may be a better choice.

sometimes they are a bit on the small side of 1/72 as well, look at their hellcat.

Ahh, I've not come across that one. Complicates the question further…. :-(

I always thought Skytrex were 1/76th, certainly all the ones I have are.

To be fair, 20mmZone are getting stuff released very fast and I believe Paul is due to release a list of whats up and coming. They seem to be getting through it pretty quick, even finding unreleased models.

Interesting – maybe I just ended up with an un-representative sample – most of my Skytrex stuff is British, with a horde of carriers, which are decidedly beefy.

PiersBrand25 Nov 2013 5:46 a.m. PST

Could be…

I know the Churchills I have are a match for the 1/76th Airfix one and the Skytrex Panthers are 1/76th.

It could well vary along the range..?

I always thought of Skytrex as 1/72.

The carriers I found to be "massive" seemingly out of kilter with the rest of the range!

There's the rub! Within one company there can be several sculptors or modle makers and their interpretations of " 1/76" can vary. Sometimes I swear they make the model to fit the package!

Hi Chrisoz1,
As Ian says, let us know what you are looking for. We do plan to have a release list published soon. However, the last 2 days has seen us at 20mmZone find and cast 7 models from the range, from new moulds made by Old Skytrex, that we were not aware of.
That does not include the horse drawn wagons and limbers that were remastered and will be relased next week.

We have this as our priority and are focusing our efforts on re issueing models that cast up to the standards we are happy with, and remastering and moulding anew, other models in the ranges.

We are also finding new, new released masters which is very exciting. Some of these are getting remoulded currently, so the ranges will also grow.

And the best news, these resent releases are up to 65% cheaper than when released under Old Skytrex!

Yes, its a great place to get the very latest, upto date information on our hobby.
cheers
Paul T@EWM/20mmZone

Hi Ian / Paul,

I sent an e-mail 2 weeks ago to Ian requiring a release list but I have received no answer. Please let me know when the list is ready.
Regarding my choice for completing my collection I have not taken any decision yet.

The positive points: 20mmZone prices are and will be very good compared to Old Skytrex' ones. And I will be able to complete my collection with vehicles of the same size.

The negative points: I would have liked to complete my collection with full metal vehicles. It seems that models are released very slowly and as said Dom Skelton it'll be many months, probably a couple of years before EWM can get through everything.

Ian/Paul will you release vehicles only from the early war or vehicles produced at the late war ?

Thank you to everybody participating to this discussion.

Hi ChrisOz1
Sorry about no reply to your request. Can I ask what address you sent the request to as I can find no sign of it.

I understand now. O2 have been taken over by Sky & all O2 e-mail addresses were closed on the first of November. You can reach me via the Shell Hole web site or direct at shellholescenics@hotmail.com but as paul has said the list is not yet ready.
