I've used this site and specifically this board for inspiration and education in modeling a number of 1/1200 ships from Langton and GHQ. There are some incredibly talented modelers here and I thank you for the advice, photos and knowledge you've shared. If you don't mind I thought it would be alright to share a few photos of this last build, rather than just reading and looking at the latest creations? Thanks!

Very good. Are those etched brass sails?

Wow Jim, really impeccable, beautiful work! And I think your color choice for the hull is particularly attractive. May I ask what paint is that?

Thank you all for the compliments. They are very much appreciated.

@gaiusrabirius; The sails are Langton's 'Easy Sails Set' for 3 deck ships.
@James; I actually mixed this color using PollyScale PRR Maroon and Vallejo Scrofulous Brown until I got a color close to a illustration I'd seen online. There's also an undercoating of yellow (that paint made the ship look too British so I covered it up) :)

Very impressive work, Jim.

Now you are one those who inspire others.

Super job Jim! Very nice build, like your others. I think you are the one to inspire as Jeff says. Oh, and welcome to TMP!

Vol

Nice one Jim as always. I welcome you too. You have become a teacher now. I stand in your shadow.

I'm still learning much as I go along. There's always new things from James, Vol, Rory and many more. Cheers and thanks for the welcome to TMP.

Great job. The hull color is brilliant!

Nightmoss25 Nov 2013 10:07 a.m. PST

James, I told you the wrong maroon color. It's Polly Scale E/L, not PRR maroon. (Erie/Lackawanna).

whitejamest25 Nov 2013 7:22 p.m. PST

Thanks for the color info Jim, it's a really attractive mix you came up with.

(I'm sad Testors bought the Polly Scale line only to discontinue the acrylics, and produce enamels instead. I stocked up on a few choice colors, but am going to have to find alternatives for others)

Nightmoss25 Nov 2013 8:14 p.m. PST

Agreed, James. A number of model railroading friends aren't very happy with Testors for reasons you've mentioned above. Very unfortunate decision from our stand point.

Jim your photos have dissapeared??????

Nightmoss10 Feb 2014 8:30 a.m. PST

Vol, they were corrupted when the Anchorage site was hacked. I don't know how I would go about relinking them now that I've reuploaded them to the site? I don't see any 'edit' functions here. I'll go look at the FAQ.

Volunteer Fezian12 Feb 2014 10:57 p.m. PST

Just add them here again. You could have stuck them in the answer above. Just put them in one below this post.

Like so? I added a couple more with the ST:

Yep! Perfect!

I think these are better quality photos than the first ones you started this post with Jim.
