"Request for New Naval Board" Topic

There has long been a gap in TMP's coverage of naval topics. There is a Galleys board for ancient naval warfare, and a Napoleonic Naval board for the end of the sailing period. What's in between? Pirates and Swashbuckling; both valid topics, but the one is too narrow (criminals with boats) and the other too broad (any combatant who ever uttered "Huzzah!", whether his feet were wet or not).

I propose a Fighting Sail board. It would cover the era from the rise of sailing warships up until their end (admittedly, this overlaps with the Napoleonic period). What do my fellow TMPers think?

Seconded. Broad, but serviceable. And a damn lot better than the current set-up.

I'm for it. I'd like to see Napoleonic naval folded in with the rest of the age of sail. Fewer places to have to look to see the stuff I'm interested in. – James

Good idea, so long as you keep the Napoleonic Naval board in existence. Its nice to be able to go to one board (Napoleonics) and see all the relevant sub-boards listed.
