That is really good.

Emperorbaz21 Nov 2013 11:30 a.m. PST

Fantastic sculpting, although he does look like he's about to sneeze

Monophthalmus21 Nov 2013 11:54 a.m. PST

Ha Ha! I hadn't thought of that Emperorbaz – I guess he does! We were hoping for more of the snarling, disdainful look. Maybe he can smell Punic fear?!

Monophthalmus21 Nov 2013 11:55 a.m. PST

By the way guys, more shots on our Facebook page if you want to check out some other sculpts….

JJartist21 Nov 2013 1:26 p.m. PST

Smiling Hetairoi21 Nov 2013 2:36 p.m. PST

JJartist21 Nov 2013 2:44 p.m. PST

Are,, these "are" a step up!! Heck you should do some resin versions of the 3-ups since my eyesight is so bad!!

Wow, simply….wow!

Then…….NOooooooooooo!

Porkmann22 Nov 2013 12:25 a.m. PST

Very nice but please not in wall to wall montefortinos!

Caliban22 Nov 2013 4:47 a.m. PST

Sneezing is good – a sign from the gods. I thought he was gesturing towards the enemy in disdain – "Come over here and say that!". These are lovely – maybe head swaps or different crests mean the same figs could be used for the end of the Republic? Just a thought…

Mithridates22 Nov 2013 2:45 p.m. PST

I thought he was winking? With Victrix bringing out their new figures next year head swaps and other conversions should be possible.

The figures are very good – the early Romans amongst us must be in 7th heaven.

Monophthalmus23 Nov 2013 5:43 a.m. PST

Hi Porkman,
There are some helmet variants in the set, so not all wall to wall Montefortinos, honest!

I keep coming back and looking at this figure. I sure hope I'm not hooked, darn I really want to throw some paint at this miniature!

Socalwarhammer29 Nov 2013 12:43 a.m. PST

Very impressive. I really like the depth of detail. The only thing negative is that we have to wait until next year.

Monophthalmus29 Nov 2013 3:12 p.m. PST

Hi Socalwarhammer,
We're working as fast as we can to get them out, I promise!
Greg

Might get me motivated to paint some other Republican Romans as allied legions, until these come out :)

The Colonel10 Dec 2013 12:01 a.m. PST

I'm a big fan of the Aventine Republican Romans and I suspect these may be smaller. But they will still be tempting!

Monophthalmus10 Dec 2013 12:57 p.m. PST

Hi @ The Colonel,
Our figures have been sculpted to be realistically proportioned, but that doesn't mean they are necessarily smaller. We've tried to avoid large hands and heads (a personal gripe of mine). Here's a link to a size comparison by Satrap Miniatures of our Velites with other major figure producers (including Aventine), to give you a feel for how our guys shape up.

Hope that helps?

Greg,

Many thanks for putting up the link. You've increased the temptation!

That sculpting is incredible.
I don't need more Romans…. but…
