If you were going to use Battlesystem for an ongoing RPG lite campaign is there room for the characters or warbands to grow? Is there a system in place for that? Thanks, Xin |

In BattleSystem 1st ed, there's a means of determining XP for units, brigade commanders, etc., so your units could level up over time. It looks like it would be fairly slow, however, so might not be suitable for a shorter campaign (like Mordheim, et al). |

You could also create a simple advancement system based on number of battles survived, etc, and then allow the choice of +1 bonuse to Attack Rating, Morale, or the like for each advance. |

Battlesystem Skirmishes doesn't have a specific system for character advancement in the rule book. However, for our ongoing Battlesystem Skirmishes RPG lite dungeon crawl campaign, the characters earn experience points for defeating the creatures in the scenario. The experience point values are listed for all the monsters in the Skirmishes rule book (which are identical to the XP values in the 2nd ed Monstrous Compendium/Manual). Then once the characters earn enough experience points, we use the experience advancement tables in the AD&D Players Handbook to handle level advancement. Not real straight forward, but if you have access to the 2nd ed AD&D books it works for a system to do advancement. |

Both 1st and 2nd Ed. AD&D rulebooks can be had off of e-Bay, and Amazon, for little money. There are also quite a few modules, and books, available for download (for a fee, of course), from both RPGNow, and D&D Classics web sites. Cheers! |
