An incredible artist. Perhaps the finest American military artist.

Steeling a bit the post…but about Don Troiani books, how do they complement or wich one would you recommend from:

Option 1
Don Troiani's Civil War

Option 2
Don Troiani's Regiments and Uniforms of the Civil War

Option 3
Don Troiani's Civil War Cavalry and Artillery
Don Troiani's Civil War Infantry
Don Troiani's Civil War Zouaves, Chasseurs, Special Branches, and Officers
Don Troiani's Civil War Militia and Volunteers

This last 4 form a series, as I understand, so make up an option on their own.

My question is, if I buy all 6, how much "repeated" material will I get? Plenty or just a few still making it a good deal to get them all?

Anyway, wouldn't buy them all at once so wich option would you guys recommend to start with?

Thank you all for your help.

Cheers
Alex

Alex,

I have Options 1 & 2 plus "America's Battles" which is more Civil War than any one thing.

There are duplicates in all three and exclusives too each one.

I have not seen the four "Don Troiani's Civil War xxxxx" books but I would expect the are some duplicates there too as the guy has only done a certain number of paintings over the years although as you can see he is still adding.

If I were to suggest one, then go for Regiments and Uniforms of the Civil War its got great info over and above the paintings themselves.

Thanks, Trajanus!

Also found some older threads on TMP (should start with that! – sorry) about the same question and I believe that option 3 is, in fact, one of the bigger books sold in volumes.

Cheers
