…"We Will All Burn Together".

"The wait for a glimpse of Peter Jackson's second Hobbit installment has heretofore felt longer than that dinner scene in the last film. Luckily, now that the release date for The Desolation of Smaug is looming, we're finally getting some clips out of Jackson's Hobbit-ing hands – including Thorin Oakenshield's chilling line "If this is to end in fire, then we will all burn together."

"That is a sexy line," Orlando Bloom, who plays Legolas, said during the "worldwide fan event" last night during which the new trailer premiered.

Starting with a rendition of the poem for the "King beneath the mountain" from J.R.R. Tolkien's novel by Bard the Bowman (Luke Evans), the latest clip has quite a bit of the same footage from the trailer released last month, but there are a few key highlights – particularly Bilbo finding out his job as burglar is to go into the mountain to retrieve the Arkenstone and – yet again – Benedict Cumberbatch's disembodied voice as Smaug booming "I am king under the mountain!" before not really showing his face. Sigh. (Seriously, saving the big reveal for the movie itself is great, but this teasing is getting out of hand.)…"

(Head desk) So now Sir Pete is stealing lines from Hunger Games to put in The Hobbit?

And yes, I do say this knowing that there are many departures from the book. And yes the quote is "If we burn, you burn with us."

I doubt it came from anything, except for standard heroic fare (remember Aragorn's "Then I shall die as one of them," from The Two Towers? Essentially the same sentiment). And that line from The Hunger Games is even less original— anytime you see a hero (or villain) amidst flammable materials and facing his nemesis, one of the two will trot out a similar line. So, whatever.

MY friends tell me this! If there will be fire, then, um, well, what exactly is your R rating anyway?

For what it's worth I think Jackson has done a better job on The Hobbit (and related proper Tolkien side material) than he did with the LOTR.

Dang. That looks cool.

Yes, that trailer looks the goods! Lets hope the actual movie is half as good.

Agree with you my friend.

So this is going to be three movies right?

In the first Bilbo finds the ring.

In the second he ticks off Smaug.

Then in the third we have the Battle of the Five Armies.

Hope that one runs like five hours.

Will this END with the death of Smaug and the next one start with TBOTFA ? I think this might end before the death of Smaug – with lake town burnt down and a bit of a cliffhanger. The big battle for this film, surely, is the White company driving The Necromancer/Sauron from Southern Mirkwood ?
