Weird – publishing on the Kindle is extremely easy and requires no more than the tools provided by Amazon or something like Scrivener which is a great writing tool and is really cheap.

I'm really surprised that anyone would sign up for something like this…

Seriously, Word is not that hard. From what I have read setting it up for kindle is just a matter of adjusting the page format to the size of the kindle screen and avoiding use of tabs. You don't even need to do that if your not worried about exact picture placement. There is probably a special way to lay out the chapter titles but that is in the above download.

I've done three books for Kindle, and set the whole thing up with Word. No need for fancy software.
