Howdy, Deployments at the Start of Turn 4
A number of events have conspired to delay progress of the campaign. But without further ado a summary of events from Turn 3.
Battle of Lyck The German I Crops was holding an outpost line near the frontier when they were attacked by the Russian 4th and 20th Corps of the Russian 1st Army. Faced with superior numbers the Germans give ground and retreat to Lotzen. The Germans lose 7 stands, the Russian 4 stands. Battle at Ciechanow After the Battles near Mlawa on Turn 3, the Russian 2nd Army retreated to its base at Ciechanow to regroup – not expecting a vigorous German pursuit. However, the German commander was extremely aggressive deploying forces to assail the Russians from three directions. The battle had the potential to be a disaster for the Germans given the number of Russian troops present. However, the Russian commander disappeared and is rumored to have committed suicide. The German attack was able to encounter Russian formations piecemeal. While scattered fighting continues the Russian 2nd Army has clearly been defeated. Losses on Turn 3: The Germans lost 18 stands, while the Russians lost 28 stands. Cumulative campaign losses: Russians: 60 stands Germans: 44 stands Ponder on, JAS |

Should be Tannenberg, not Tannenber. I regret the error – JAS |

Sigh, you keep asking the same question, and getting the same answer – Command Decision – Test of Battle. This is a playtest for the forthcoming Great War East – 1914 scenario book. I do appreciate your interest. JAS
