A couple of suggestions if you're stuck home this Halloween. All should be available from popular services like Netflix or Amazon Prime.
The Loved Ones:
This Australian movie can be classified as torture-porn, but also has dark humor and shades of 'Sixteen Candles.' The antagonist of the movie, Lola, gets snubbed by Brent when she asked him to go to the prom and exacts bloody revenge. And you thought Carrie had a bad prom night.
American Mary:
This is underground horror sibling Soska Sisters' second major feature, about a young Hungarian medical student who, through 'fate,' becomes a different kind of doctor altogether. Also a cautionary tale on the dangers of body modification.
Excision:
AnnaLynne McCord (the 'queen bee' on the short-lived 90210 reboot) is an 'unattractive' geeky weirdo high school outcast haunted by surreal psycho-sexual fantasies involving surgery. Her surgery 'skills' get put to the test when she decides to do something fateful. Also stars Malcolm McDowell, Roger Bart and '80's porn legend Tracy Lords as her mother.
Alyce Kills:
Alyce 'accidentally' pushes her best friend off the roof of her apartment after one alcohol-inebriated, drug-addled party night, and thus began her descent into 'the mouth of madness.' The movie slowly builds toward its climax when things get really bloody and disgusting indeed. Produced by Bloody Disgusting dotcom, you would expect no less.
Stoker:
Korean auteur Park Chan-wook ('Oldboy') goes Hitchcock in this slow-burning thriller starring Alice in Wonderland's Mia Wakikowska and Nicole Kidman. Not really scary, but filled with shocking revelations and twists if you're into this sort of thing.
Happy Halloween.
