It seems this title by Histoire & Collections is on and then off publication. Anyone know why?

Has it actually been published yet?

Cheers

It hasn't – for books available in the series see link

I read somewhere (cannot remember where though) that the Berezina book was to be last in the series – personally I hope not.

As the main author, Francois-Guy Hourtoulle, passed away in 2009, there will obviously be some changes if the series continues.

after Ocaņa and the forthcoming "Marengo 1800" there will be also "Napoleon and Italy 1805-1805" probably about napoleonic campaigns in Italy after 1805 I assume, "Leipzig 1813" announced but in the serie Men&Battles (64 pages)

Brunet,

Is the Ocana book in french have any interesting uniform plates? I was figuring that the Russian campaign would have some plates of the French and Russians in winter uniform, but sadly nothing like that. However, it is still a good book. Just looking for a more campaign look for the Ocana book.

Thank You
MIchael

There is a Spanish book in the "Guerreros y Battalles" series (No 81) about "Ocana 1809 – El desastre, tras la victoria de Bailen"

This has some coloured uniform plates similar to the Hourtelle books, pictures of Spanish guns and artillery equipment, and a detailed OOB. As well as a description of the action and maps – unfortunately the book is in Spanish but if you can overlook that (or can read Sapnish) then it is pretty good. €14.00 EUR when I bought it in Valencia last month.

Now available in English on Amazon. It is composed primarily of uniform plates.

I just received my copy of the Histoire "Ocana" book – as a general description of the campaign and battle it is very good. There are also excellent uniform plates for the Spanish and French armies. I'd recommend it for those interested in building a Spanish army from the period, not just for those interested in the battle.

My copy arrived today.

Oh God. It's lovely …..

It confirms my decision to work up an early Peninsular Spanish army (15mm).

I've worked out basing that will suit BP, Lasalle, and maybe some others if I get bored.

Thanks for the recommendations guys.

Guthroth – glad you like it. If you are looking for some reviews of the BH and OG Spanish figures suitable for the early Spanish Army (along with some poor photos of painted AB Spanish figures) then take a look at my blog: link

My next entry should be a look at the Blue Moon French guns.
