The below link is to an article that was originally published in Wargames, Soldiers and Strategy Issue 64, which explains my approach to basing miniatures, and basing techniques. Part 1 is on my blog, and Parts 2 and 3 will come out tomorrow and Friday. It's on my blog:- link

Can I please make another polite plea for people not use black as a background on their blogs/websites? I immediately go somewhere else as it is very difficult to read and hurts my eyes (especially the italic serif font) Some articles on why not
link link The references here are excelletn for studies on why it is generally a bad idea. link |

Hi Khusrau, I've not seen your plea before. I'll bear this in mind when I next reformat my blog. |

I picked up that issue of WSS mainly for this article, some very good tips (new to me) in it. |

Hi Boy wundyr, I'm glad you liked it. I do love me basin'. |

I don't think that it is the black background but the gray font that is hard to read. I used a black background on the Bongolesia site, but I use white, oragne, and yello, and it seems to be very easily readable and less eye strain

Thanks for those very helpful posts Simon. I would have liked the grape vendor selling either parrots' beaks or badgers' noses but c'est la vie. Using 6mm MDF means no warps. I spray matt varnish on the figure/base when all done. Multi-bases are a god send and for Hail Caesar I often mount the entire unit on a single base. Like you I use PVA. Now if I could only get my base measurements right (I hand cut them all)! Garry |

Hi Garry, happily these never warp. Once the compound has set, they stay flat until domesday! I agree, multibases are a godsend, period. Cheers, Simon |

Great idea about breaking the base into two. I always struggle getting basing paste in between all the feet on a multi deep base. |

Yes, I absolutely hate getting the brown paint and tufts in between the feet. This does make it easier. Cheers Simon |
