Leibermuster, the last camouflage pattern developed by the Third Reich. Issued in limited numbers in the last year of the war. Popping up in Germany and Czechoslovakia in the last year of the war, it is uncertain how many units received it as records keeping on the business end of the Russian steamroller wasn't at the top of the action-item list.

Now, I had thought to sit on this for sometime and quietly send it off to Battlefront in hopes it would make it into the Berlin books, but I didn't see it fair to hold off on something for the "what-if" crowd. The colors and very simple, and the pattern is easy to reproduce if you have the patients. I found it much easier to replicate than peadot.

Excellent work, very effective rendition of the camo which looks great with those bases.

Its nice, but still a very, very rare pattern seen on the field. But it'll become real popular real soon as I understand they are using it it he Brad Pitt film FURY.

Personally, I don't care how cool it is, the usage was so limited as to make it nearly miniscule used on the battlefield. Nice for what of I agree, bad for anything historical.

A few years ago there was a whole thread over on the Missing-Lynx forum (I believe it was) on this camo scheme. Quite a few photos were presented showing its use in the field.

Shame that you need to mix the colors, but that looks like a really easy pattern to paint.

Thanks!

Hey guys, thanks for the praise.

I admit it's a very rare pattern, but it's really cool none the less, and I'm hopeful to start some Heer 46 stuff.

Anyone have any pointers on getting links and other html to work on this site, been having trouble (PM me)

Also, mixing the colors is easy, it's just a 50/50 split. Easy to do with Vallejo.

That's just weird, but kind of cool at the same time! I've never seen it before so thanks for posting, its perfect for like you say "the what ifs" and such like.

Excellent Work, Thanks!

I have everything except the wash. Can you use vallejo black wash or something else and get satisfactory results? Can you recommend a substitute?
Oh, they look great!

OH !!! Very nice !!!

Gottmituns20523 Oct 2013 9:32 a.m. PST

JD, try it out with the black wash it'll probably work. Do it on a single test piece and get back to me.

What camo pattern did you use on the helmets?

Gottmituns20504 Nov 2013 1:06 p.m. PST

JD is used SS Oakleaf. Most common for helmets.

Thanks for sharing. I think I am going to do some minor changes to your formula because my skills are not up to yours. I am going to avoid the wash and highlight of the base coat and do an over all wash at end with vallejo dark wash. I think this will give me a darker more subtly finished product. But don't get me wrong, I love your figs!

Gottmituns20520 Nov 2013 2:25 a.m. PST

Hey JD,

Too each their own bud, lemme know how it works out. I'd love to see some photos!

You know, this is just in time for the Desperate Measures late-late war book!
