"Greetings, everyone!
For those who don't know me, my name is Martin Wolverton and I am the lead author and head designer of a group that is writing a set of 19th century Colonial rules for a well-known game company. I'm not at liberty to say at this point which company this is, but suffice to say that most here would recognize the name immediately! Our set of rules is a tactical game covering Britain's Colonial Wars of the late 19th century. At the present time, our project will provide unit stats and army lists for the Anglo-Zulu war, the Sudan Campaign, the 2nd Anglo-Afghan War, and the 2nd Boer War. The rules are designed to have roughly company sized units (larger for some of the native forces) as the basic maneuver element with the player on average controlling 10-12 units. Provisions will be made for both scenario driven play and points driven "pick-up games". Though designed with 25/28mm figures in mind, our testing has shown that smaller scale figures work just as well. A set of rules for 1:1 scale skirmish games are also to be included.

The general idea is to provide a set of Colonial rules with widespread appeal. One that takes the period fairly seriously and provides lots of period detail, while at the same time being a fun and approachable game system with easy to learn intuitive rules mechanics.

If this sounds interesting to you, then we are interested in having your input!
We are in the final stages of testing the rules mechanics, army lists, and scenarios and need the input of outside testers. That is to say we need more input from folks who have not been involved in the development process. That is where you come in! At present we need a number of groups who are interested in giving our rules a try. So if your club or circle of gaming friends is interested in running some test games and are willing to give their honest assessment of our product contact me and we'll let you know more details.

Contact me at my home email address (trenchraider@austin.rr.com) with the number of people in your local gaming community who would be interested in this test, your previous experience in gaming the genre, and any questions you have and I'll get back to you shortly. Needless to say anyone inquiring about this is expected to adhere to the usual NDA.
Thanks for your time.

Well, I'm already in on this, but you guys should check it out. I really believe this is an excellent system, and I have put together a Pathan Revolt 'army list' for people to try out, in addition to the Anglo-Zulu war, the Sudan Campaign, the 2nd Anglo-Afghan War, and the 2nd Boer War that Martin has put together.

Actually Martin has a 2nd Afghan War army list in the current draft unless your talking about a homebrew list for the 1st Afghan War.

Nope, Pathan Revolt in 1897-1898. The one where Winston Churchill played war correspondent!

I'm sending you an email, Martin. My small group and I are interested in participating as playtesters, on the Second Afghan War front.

Hey all!

Thanks to everyone who has contacted me about this. I have been both suprised and pleased at the response. I just about have the numbers I would like for our Beta test group, but still have room for one or two more test groups. So if you are interested in this, you need to email me quickly before all our slots close.

Thanks again!

Martin
