I do NOT want it to look like all the other forums out there, I LIKE the feel of things as they are right now. I do NOT want to see giant icons, quotations from Sun Tzu in everyone's signature, etc. Why do you think I did not migrate to the "other" sites during the Days of Wrath 2 years ago? Sint ut sunt, aut non sint. |

I don't like the format of all other forums ether, they are a mess and a pain to use. |
| By John 54 | 15 Oct 2013 10:27 a.m. PST |
Agreed, all those pretentious quotes, and ranks depending on how often you post, are pathetic. Oh, and lay off Tango. John |

While the layout is rather archaic, the alternative is just as bad if not worse (see OFM's comment). Would love to see the number of boards go down (always wondered if this was not a source of many issues), or fixing the search engine so that you can actually find things. The ability to internally tag a conversation to come back to would be nice (yes I know you can book mark but this keeps it clean and neat) Check boxes for the PM's, so you can actually delete many at once instead of delete, go back, click on the next
rinse repeat. |

I agree with John. I like the current form and layout of the message boards. |
| darthfozzywig | 15 Oct 2013 10:31 a.m. PST |
Wow. First response is a personal attack against another member? Stay classy, TMP.
|
| richarDISNEY | 15 Oct 2013 10:36 a.m. PST |
I really don't see TMP's layout are archaic, Grumpy Monkey. Can you give an example so we can better understand what you mean? But I REALLY like the fact that it does not look the same as most of the other boards out there (WD3, LAF, WAMP, etc
) It give it a unique charm that I like. I also agree with the rest of what you said, doubly so on the search engine. I also agree with John (especially when the quote or picture are larger than the actual post!). But most of all, I'd love to see stuff go to the correct boards. Not posting something non-gaming related on the TMP board when it belongs on the Plus board.

Super-Stifle – to eliminate threads started by a user from appearing on your front page. Ditto the easier cleanup of the inbox Allow marketplace posts to be updated as things sell instead of adding comments. |
| ming31 | 15 Oct 2013 10:49 a.m. PST |
agree with original poster . And less boards |

COME ON, blinky pictures, strobe light backgrounds, and your own icon that moves and dances is the wave of the future on the internet! You don't want your grand children to see you on a website that does not have these attributes, they will think you are "SO LAME" or worse "OLD". Also we need more to have more advertisements between every post, pop-ups oh
. pop-ups we need lot's of those, and perhaps a STORE where TMP can can be your one-stop-shop on the internet. Also I am sure TMP 4.0 (A.K.A. Skynet) will make life much easier for you by making TMP your homepage, and sending you lots of e-mails everytime someone likes your post. Not too mention stifles 2.0 where people cannot see thier favorite stiffled poster ANYWHERE on the internet. TMP 4.0 will will also make suggestions on who to stifle. Perhaps it will go like this
"you stifled the OFM perhaps would you like to stifle BME? they both have three capital letters in their name, click the Pop-Up to confirm." TMP 4.0 will make your life SO much easier, YOU JUST DON'T KNOW! At least until TMP 4.392 comes out. small print: the above is a joke/sarcasm skynet is not real trust the computer "the computer is your friend" "smile it's mandatory" "keep your laser handy" "end of line"

John the OFM | 15 Oct 2013 10:54 a.m. PST |
When I go to some of the "new" sites, all I see is ads for Ru Paul's Drag Races. And they are NOT the sites you are thinking of!!! Now I have nothing against
. etc., but
. Perhaps it will go like this
"you stifled the OFM perhaps would you like to stifle BME? they both have three capital letters in their name, click the Pop-Up to confirm." People are STILL stifling BME? How 2011. |

Definitely no signature quotes or pop-ups ! I think there should be a Like/Dislike feature on posts though. |
Patrick Sexton | 15 Oct 2013 12:10 p.m. PST |
I like it just the way it is; I can read it easily, same for following the threads etc. |
| WarWizard | 15 Oct 2013 12:13 p.m. PST |
Yes, I hate those annoying ads that display over everything when you are trying to read and post. And those stupid rankings based on how long you've been a member, or how many posts you have, garbage. |
| coryfromMissoula | 15 Oct 2013 12:22 p.m. PST |
I don't want to ever again see robots in tuxedos or whatever that was – it would be nice if workbench articles would randomize (the same way banners do)after a period of time, maybe five days. I don't want to see so many boards. If necessary allow tags to threads so someone can omit any thread tagged "naval" or whatever. I would like to see stifles hide all threads started by the stifled person so we would have fewer people complaining about frequent thread starters. |

Totally agree. TMP has a unique look and feel untouched by large multi community Samey forums. Any signatures should be signed off by the individual not embedded all over the place. Sint ut sunt, aut non sint. |

I've got no real complaints with TMP as it functions now. It's fast and simple to navigate. It would be nice if I could put certain threads on follow
or if threads stayed on my front page as long as there is activity in them. Going off the front page seems to kill discussion prematurely sometimes. I've got no use for huge avatars and the 'signature' nonsense
or any of the other vanity plate stuff. |
| napthyme | 15 Oct 2013 1:06 p.m. PST |
If your not old and crotchety like the rest of us who don't like change you free to go find a new forum that meets your 22nd century ideas of what forums should look like. And I vote Tango needs his own board. So much of the stuff he posts/re-posts I have never seen before. He does a great service to the community. And he doesn't complain |
| richarDISNEY | 15 Oct 2013 1:17 p.m. PST |
No no no, kreoseus2. We need MORE Zardoz
 Or not

| Sue Kes | 15 Oct 2013 1:23 p.m. PST |
I like the layout of the posts, too, and wouldn't like to see a change there. In fact the only suggestion I'd make is to add a "like" button to posts; there are times when I agree with someone's comments but they're back a bit in the sequence so there doesn't seem any point in referring to them just to say "I agree with you". |
| CorSecEng | 15 Oct 2013 1:26 p.m. PST |
Besides a bunch of background updates and usability updates, I'd really like to see some of those fancy new features your all crying against. I'd love to have the sidebar scroll with you as you scroll down the page. This wouldn't work on the main page but it would be handy in posts. An auto updating the page with new posts would be cool as well but that might be more leg work then Bill wants to get into. Lots of AJAX to do that. One KEY element that would make my day is a redirect added to the post feature so that my browser doesn't try to submit the same message every time I hit refresh on a thread. I want to post and then come back to that tab later and hit refresh without having to go back to the board menu and click in again. |
| ghostdog | 15 Oct 2013 1:36 p.m. PST |
The problem with a member posting every day as if it was his last day in earth is that there are so many boards that once a topic is out of the front page trying to find it is a nightmare. |
| Fried Flintstone | 15 Oct 2013 1:44 p.m. PST |
Everything is pretty good now. I would like to be able to mark my favourite posts like John's "Starting AWI" post which I have referenced a number of times. That's all. |
| jdpintex | 15 Oct 2013 1:52 p.m. PST |
Change is over rated. But if you have to change something, change the background color to pale green. There I've done something constructive today!! |
MrHarold | 15 Oct 2013 2:09 p.m. PST |
I would love to be able to know when someone replies to my post, or "subscribe" to a thread so I can easily find it later. I also like the "like" button idea. It's nice to show support when someone posts something they painted or built etc. |
Mserafin | 15 Oct 2013 2:10 p.m. PST |
Just keep them darn kids out of the yard, that's all I care about. Really, Bill, most of TMP is not broken and will require no fixing. But I do like the idea of being able to "follow" threads. I've posted before about trying to find the threads I've contributed to, and being frustrated by the search results. But mostly I'm a satisfied customer. |

A "like" button is far too groovy and 21st century. We should have a "I find much to commend in the general thrust of your arguments" button. Doug |

No archiving or clean up in the middle of the night. It is OK for those in the US -- but for those of us in Australia, it hits at prime time! |
| Privateer4hire | 15 Oct 2013 3:37 p.m. PST |
Or a "I don't disagree" button. |
| thehawk | 15 Oct 2013 3:53 p.m. PST |
I like the current format as it is readable on smartphones. Most BB's aren't. A Strangle button ???? This is like Stifle but the complete post is not shown, not just the message contents. It won't happen but rules on Representation would be good. Any owner, employee, contractor, associate etc of a wargaming company must identify themselves as such (perhaps as part of their user registration). Users in this category must not post any material that may damage another company's reputation or commercial interests. Users in this category can only make posts that are informed and factually accurate. No more "my products are the only good products" posts from companies with several user id's. But I like the idea of an "I agree" versus "complete rot" button. |
| AndrewGPaul | 15 Oct 2013 4:12 p.m. PST |
Pretty much every forum I'm on lets you disable user avatars, sigs, images, etc. They often have multiple skins available so my TMP needn't look like yours. Many of those are also handy for smartphone screens (or there's plugins for apps like Tapatalk). In fact, usernames and avatars are usually off to one side, resulting in less vertical scrolling required. They also don't go down for two hours every day. A workable quote function would be useful. There are too many conversations in here which are rendered illegible because people don't use the quote function. |
| vtsaogames | 15 Oct 2013 4:52 p.m. PST |
Nothing is as irritating as a new release that changes the look and feel of stuff. Stuff that used to work doesn't. Old functions are hidden in new drop down menus. Add functionality, yes. Fix bugs, yes. Change the basic look and feel, no. |
| jpattern2 | 15 Oct 2013 5:26 p.m. PST |
I like the current layout and feel, too. |
Editor in Chief Bill | 15 Oct 2013 5:39 p.m. PST |
Any upgrade will attempt to keep TMP as much like the current version as possible, but without the bugs, and with a few commonsense improvements (like being able to follow a topic). |
Shagnasty | 15 Oct 2013 6:24 p.m. PST |
I would like to see things as they are, for what it is worth. |
