Oh yeah, can't have enough Leipzigs. Great effort, well organised and well done to all! |

Looks like a lot of fun. What rules did you use? |

Rules were Black Powder, you get the odd silly result, but for a large battle like this they tend to balance out. Details of variations to the standard BP rules can be found further down in my blog. link |

Thanks for this. I do like your skirmisher rules whereby if charge by Cav they evade 1 foot to cover or behind friendly formed troops, if too far from such cover they are lost. Simple and elegant, and discourages too much straying! How do you handle skirmishers charged by formed troops? BTW, for 'must form square' our group simply throws a single D6 – 1 is a broken square, 2 a disordered square, 3-6 a good square, with a -1 negative modifier if the cav start the charge within a foot of the Infantry
Whats the rationale in doubling Cavalry dice against infantry in the open – does that include against troops in square? |

Napoleon at War has a neat skirmisher rule, (Skrimishers are effectively markers for other units) if not already in square and charged by cav they have a saving roll to not be run down and removed. Death on a 1-2 roll on a d6. It's a quick bit of chrome and simple to compute. David B |

How do you handle skirmishers charged by formed troops? They can choose whether to evade or stand, the gamer can make his own mistakes. What's the rationale in doubling Cavalry dice against infantry in the open – does that include against troops in square? Experience was that cavalry were too ineffective against infantry in the open hence the doubling. However this s balanced by not allowing cavalry to charge home against formed infantry if they are disorganised by closing fire. Put simply there is about a 50% chance they will be disorganised during the charge an not get into combat so overall the average number of hits on the infantry is the same. Just feels more like cavalry v's infantry combat. Squares are treated as normal |

Always great to see a massive game in 1/72 plastic. Bravo! |

BTW I really enjoyed your blog, especially the sections you have on terrain building. Do you have any info on how you made the egyptian buildings? Because I am planning to make some of my own soon, and I really like yours. Also, can I ask where did you get the palm trees? I have just started collecting & modelling for Bonapartes campaign in Egypt, in 1/72 plastic. |
