We played a big Waterloo Battle. Rules: Black Powder, 28mm Three Tables: Left Flank (Hougomont) 6*8 Center (La Haye Saint): 14*6 Right Flank (Papelotte/Placenoit): 6*10 Over 2900 infantry models, over 600 cavalry models. We played 9 hours, Napoleon won 20 minutes before the game would have ended with an automatic ally victory (last prussian corps arriving). Pictures in this thread, starting at the bottom of page 2. link Sorry, text in german. |

Great looking game. How did you handle the orchards and woods? I really don't see any trees? I've played Waterloo in 6mm many times. If the French don't have some restrictions they just run over the Allies before the Prussians arrive. How did you manage this? Where was it played, nice looking club house, with beer as well! |

"How did you handle the orchards and woods? I really don't see any trees?" Because the british were defending they had more space. The french had so little room to deploy, that we left out the wood before Hougomont. "I've played Waterloo in 6mm many times. If the French don't have some restrictions they just run over the Allies before the Prussians arrive." 1) We played Black Powder with halve movement, so the french werent so fast. And in BP it takes some time to break an enemy brigade. 2) To win you needed two breakthroughs. That was also possible for the allies. So Napoleon needed some reserve too, to secure a possible gap in his front. It is a club house of a garden colony, that we could rent. |
