Was just wondering if any game or scenario book had Star Wars themed scenarios for fleet level (Galactic Civil War)

The video game series X-Wing and Tie Fighter's hintbooks list all the scenarios and the forces and are, I suppose, canon, but are of course horribly skewed because the "player ship" is a superhero that takes down dozens of ships each battle. Wookieepedia also has some of them reproduced.

Of course, I know I can try to convert Pacific War scenarios as well as other space fleet game scenarios with a starfighter focus, but was wondering if something easier was available for scenarios.

Not exactly what you may be looking for but I do have a scenario based on the Hoth space battle on my webpage:

freewebs.com/heavymetaldrake

It is IIRC on the FT beta scenarios tab (if not try the other FT scenarios tab) and it is titled "I'll Get Her Out on the Falcon."

Hope this helps.

Now that I think of it, outside of a few offhand mentions of battles, I've never come across same, even in the old WEG RPG. Didn't get deep into it, so I may have missed something.

If you are going to adapt something, you might consider the 'loser' to WEG's Star Wars, Renegade Legion. Much is available as fan downloads.

A system that was designed for a bid for the RPG, it still has a fair amount of the flavor, and has quite a bit of star-spanning fluff. Definitely fighter friendly; Interceptor was the fighter box.

Leviathan, as the ship-based game, had the largest sweep.

I think WEG had an OOB for Hoth – I'll need to look in the storage unit in the next day or so…

Didn't know; I'll try to find my pile as well.

The Rogue Squadron series of novels has some fleet-scale battles in it, as does the Heir to the Empire series; maybe 1-2 per novel. Technically they're post-empire, but you can file the serial numbers off and say they happened during the Galactic Civil War.

Are you wanting to recreate fleet battles or fighter skirmishes? or like me, both?

Zelekendel15 Oct 2013 2:19 p.m. PST

Both, really. More than what the X-Wing Minis game allows, of course.

Or well, I suppose they did release Corvette class ships at least, that's something!

I checked out the old X-Wing Missions, and yeah, they're pretty skewed.

For example, one convouy ambush run has two Top Ace X-Wing (one of them you) and 2 novice Y-Wing on a mission to destroy two freighters, covering are about 7 Ace T/Fs, but an STD jumps in and launches like 12 Top Ace to Ace T/I.

And that's just the beginning.

A later defend mission has 2 X-W and 2 A-W defending a CRV and a CRS against a STD, 4 GUN, 6 T/I and 20 T/B.

I actually looked into this as well using 5150 Fighter Command since I could mix in cap ships with fighters for a "skirmish" type game. I'm still mulling it over at this point.

Maybe just bump up the number of Rebel ships to act as a counter balance? In most of the Star Wars games I've played the Empire had to outnumber the Alliance anyways…simply because the Alliance ships had shields and more durable ships.

Hope that makes sense?

Oh indeed, just wondering about how many fighters a player fighter would exactly count as.
