I had the chance to play not one, but two games of Tomorrow's War this weekend, against two different opponents. It's amazing how much gaming you can get in when the wife is out of town! Both games were set in Geirrod City and featured Markham's Thunderbolts, my mercenary army versus a variety of attacking forces. For this first game, the attackers were a force of high-tech Ventaurans, and we fought it out in the crumbling ruins of Geirrod City. Here's a link to the full battle report on my blog: link And here are a few pics to get you started:

Well done! Great looking table and miniatures. We really enjoy TW and coming up with a background story as well. Thanks for sharing this; Joe |

Tomorrow's War is one of my favorite game systems. It is highly adaptable to a wide range of backgrounds for science fiction. Great looking game Patrick and looks like everyone had fun. I will agree with your comment on your blog that one on one games tend to go smoother but I have run large games with as many as six people playing. Once everyone gets the hang of the concept of the initiative side and reaction rolls it tends to go well. I have found what confuses first time players the most is that if they start as the non-initiative player and win a reaction roll during the initiative players turn they do not understand why they do not get to then take another action after all of the initiative player's units have activated. I blame the IGOUGO mindset here. In effect the Force on Force rule system which is what TW is based on is all about reaction tests. That is the beauty of the game. And actually a unit might react multiple times in a single turn but the diminishing fire power dice rule makes that an elegant mechanic. |

One of these days I will sit down and actually read and understand my copy of Tomorrow's War. I hate to admit it keeps getting pushed to the bottom of the pile. Also, wow. Those Ventaurans held up really well to the years, huh? The detail is pretty on par with a lot of modern models. |

Thanks for the comments, guys. @whitemanticore: I'm glad to hear that it's possible to run a multiplayer game successfully. Most of our club nights feature multiple players per game, so this will be a necessity moving forward. @wolfprophet: Yes, Karl is very proud of his Ventaurans and always enjoys telling people just how old they are. I've gotta say, it's refreshing to see some properly scaled 25mm sci-fi figures, after so much 32mm heroic finecast eye candy elsewhere on the interwubz. |

Nice AAR. I have also run TW games with up to 7 players. It does get hard to control at that lever. I have also done the game with 6 players using a king of the hill battle. card or dice activation for players. Those were a real challenge but fun. |
