I thought that this might be of some interest to the Ancients Community. It involves the attempt to decipher some very ancient writing/symbols used in Mesopotamia.

When did mesopotamean become prehistoric?.

Technically, if it is from a time before the existence of writing, and thus recorded accounts of events (e.g. "history"), it's "prehistoric." However, we usually think of "prehistoric" referring to times before developing civilizations, though civilizations that do not yet have writing (such as early Mesopotamia) are still "prehistoric."

Sumer had writting and predates mesopotamia.
we have their kings lisrs and creation stories.
the culture is a far cry from prehistoric.
take a stand against hyperbole!
