Those are nice barricades, but to my mind not that good against zombies: what do zombies care about barbed wire? I guess it might impede their progress by entangling their legs. Similarly, the new _Walking Dead_ ads have double apron wire fences topped with barbed wire. It seems to me the zeds would just crowd against it, pushing constantly until they pushed the fence posts out. If it were up to me I'd shelter behind concrete walls. But I guess apocalypse suvivors can't be choosers.

I'd try surrounding a barricade with a very wide "moat" of automobile tires laid flat on the ground, tied together, and staked to the earth. By the time the zombies finally reach your barricades, you've would've had enough time to prepare any other defenses you've had in mind.
If your zombies are the slow kind, you might have had enough time to raise some children to fight beside you ;)

You only have to slow them down just enough to reload

In full size, they also help slow down my teenage kids from getting to the refrigerator.

Fishing line at ankle height arrayed in depth. Sit back and watch them shamble-trip, shamble-trip. Easier than car tyres.
