Hey, just read an article about a new ww-II movie called Fury. Suppose to be released in nov 2014. Anyone else heard about this?

Good article, I've read about this movie somewhere.

I hope it is a good one and not another Tarantino revenge porn.

"Fury, which is scheduled to hit cinemas in November 2014, tells the story of a crew of a Sherman tank taking on a dangerous mission in the final weeks of the war.
Written by director David Ayer, the film sees the crew take on a desperate German division facing an almost hopeless predicament."

Sounds pretty promising, actually. Vehicle is right for the time of war too.

"The director David Ayers, did my favorite police
movie, 'End of Watch.' The film's title 'Fury' comes from the name of the tank, which belongs
to F Co. of the 66th or 67th Armored Regiment (not specified). It is about one single day in the
life of a Sherman crew and takes place in April, 1945, in Germany. There will be five actual running
Shermans used, which is why the filming location is in the UK, also the use of a running Tiger tank will
be available, for several days. This film will be released in 2014 and gives us something cinematic to
look forward to, next year. With Ayers as the director, it should be realistic and intense.
Jake Powers knows one of the producers, Owen Thornton and Jake gave him my contact
info recently. Mr Thornton called me last week, to discuss the project. "

Found this on another site. Sounds like they might have access to Tiger 131? That would be cool as hell. Now I am actually getting excited for this one.

And another, contemporary AFV action movie is in the works -- Thunder Run by David Zucchino is being made into a movie.

""Thunder Run" is the untold story of the dangerous and bloody capture of Baghdad by American Forces at the onset of the Iraq War. In April 2003, three battalions and fewer than a thousand men launched a violent thrust of tanks and Bradley Fighting Vehicles into the heart of a city of five million, igniting a three-day blitzkrieg, which military professionals often refer to as a lightning strike, or "thunder run." In telling the story of the surprise assault on Baghdad–one of the most decisive battles in recent American combat history–this movie paints the harrowing picture of the soldiers on the front lines and the realities of modern warfare."

At 49 Pitt is old enough to be a Colonel or General (Eisenhower was 55 in 1945), though I suppose 49 year old sergeant wouldn't be impossible.

Except he doesn't look 49, and what difference does it make anyway? Actors have rarely played their ages in movies or TV…

Call me skeptical. I read somewhere that the story had them on a secret mission behind enemy lines. Not exactly the forte of a Sherman tank (With the notable exception of Oddball and his Sherman's).

I'm hoping it is good but the IMDB entry with Pitt's character listed as Wardaddy doesn't give me a good feeling.

"Fury takes place in 1945 as the Nazi regime collapses. The story follows the five man crew of an American tank called Fury who battle a desperate German army. The director previously said that the goal is to "bring a fresh execution to the genre," adding, "What these men went through is worthy of a complex, honest portrayal. This will have incredible, visceral action and complex rich characters. I plan to bring tank combat to life in a way"

This is a quote from a news article on IMDB. Hoping they mean what they say and not some silly, "behind enemy lines" crap.

There is great concern that in the attempt to show things never seen before, they have gone overboard and chosen to use photos of the 1% of totally obscure things that you'd never see anywhere else (like a tank commander in high cavalry boots and riding pants). The parts of the script I have seen are pretty ridiculous however.

My feeling at this time is that there will be some amazing minor details few people will care about or notice (like perfectly correct ammo crates), some stuff that will leave people in the know wondering WTH? (like bizarre uniforms combinations), and a story that may have started out as WWZ, but ended up as, uh, 'WWZ.' only killing nazzis.

Wait for it to come out, and then make up your own mind.

And yes, it is the Bovington 131 Tiger, which will make it the first time a running Tiger has been seen on screen since 1946's 'Theirs is the Glory'. And the best news about that is that it is pumping some very needed money into Bovington's coffers.

And yes, it is the Bovington 131 Tiger

But, but, the Bovington Tiger is an early-production model, with Feiffel air-cleaners and everything! You can't justify using that in a movie set in 1945! This is just another example of how Hollywood has no respect for history.

wink

Correct, As they are well known for being near indestructible I imagine there are still dozens of late war runners they could have picked from.
