I think Jack's points are correct. If I was starting again, I would seriously consider 10mm, but frankly, there wasn't much stuff in that scale when I started collecting 6mm/1/285

Horses for courses I guess. I plan to do SCW in 15mm, I have WW2 in 6mm, Napoleonics in 6mm, Moderns in 15mm & 6mm (15mm for Afghanistan, 6mm for Cold War) etc.. it all has to do with the scale of the engagements I want to model, and for me, the scale in WW2 I want to play is larger than skirmish. Unless the scale is distorted beyond where I want to go, for me, on a 6 x 4, 15mm is skirmish.
