Revell makes a 1:50 scale Viking ship. The kit was frequently found at Hobby Lobby last year, although I'm not sure whether their stock still has it this year.

Old Glory makes a really nice Viking ship in two versions (one with and with without crew) for their 25mm figures but is works just fine with 28s. You could check their website to see if the give the length and width.

I think Redoubt do one?

Village Green (now Stronghold) did an inexpensive one too but no idea on the availability.

Laser Dreamworks makes a nice 1/50 scale viking ship for wargaming for $20 USD:

The laserdreamworks one is awesome. I have a few of them!

The Old Glory one is ~13"x3.5" at the waterline (the outline is curved from stem to stern – not a straight line to be found), gunwale is a little less than an inch high, and the end posts are ~3" high without the Dragon's head/tail decorations.

It actually feels a bit over-scale for 28mm warriors.

The Wargames Illustrated article was done by a friend and me. I supplied the models and photos, he did the write-up and formating. I've scratchbuilt about 30 Viking ships over several years, each one with a unique prow hand carved. Dervel posted the link here on TMP. I'll go look for it.

Halfwit, don't worry about the tools. I do most of the construction with a good sharp knife, a metal straight edge, a few files and sandpaper, rubber bands and "T" pins. The tricky part is getting the hull block cut on a bevel. A jigsaw or band saw does this very easily, but I have roughed out a hull with a hand jig saw(also called a saber saw) with a blade that adjusts to a 20 degree slant. then it is just a job of shaping the hull and smoothing it out with a file. If you don't have access to either of these, possibly a friend does. A saber saw is pretty standard DIY equipment.

The figurehead does not have to be so elaborate. I've made several ships with the simple round open-jawed dragon head. This is a circular head with a circle cut from the outside edge and an eye. This has as much validity as a more elaborate head. There are no examples that have survived, only conjecture.

Gripping Beast does a few really nice ones.
