Hello All,
I got to play my first full blown game of Gruntz. A friend and I are using the rules to play some "Modern" Cold War type games. We had a fun game and had had several discussion where to tweak the unit profiles for future games.

Here are the Profile cards we used to play the game.

These first cards used the standard Barracks program. I will likely create a template for myself to allow me to customize any stat line on the profile cards.

At the moment the changes we want to make is to reduce the damage on the IFVs and up the AP of the big guns. Gruntz does allow some easy customization to suit your setting and desired outcomes.

Here are a few pictures of our game.

Thanks to Steve for his miniatures and terrain. Thanks to Paul for his terrain map and thanks to the guys that played. I look forward to reporting on some future games.

Very cool, how do you feel it works with modern day units?

Hello MrHarold,

I was pleased with the results. The infantry combat worked well. It was very quick and deadly.

With vehicle combat I will stress that Gruntz was never designed as a one shot one kill game. Rob, mentioned his intent was to create a real-time strategy game feel where units slowly lose hit points. As such the vehicles will take several hits before being destroyed.

The T90 we finally nailed took 4 hits from the M1s before it popped. The BMPs took hits from the big guns and rolled on. I understood this and OK with the mechanics. It also provided a longer life to models. I think that is very important when you have a low model game.

We are making some adjustments to make the vehicle killing a little faster but it will be 2-3 hits for a vehicle kill as opposed to the 4 we were typically seeing.

It was very cool to see the M1 take shot and shot from the T90s, holding the line as it was slowly ground down.

Thanks
