A bit of wetlands theme to some recent work on my DBA armies …

(30mm Egyptian flats DBA littoral baggage element)

I painted up the boat a while back but have had a delay waiting for the scenic undergrowth that would make the staging I always planned for the piece.

I'm inspired by the new Peter Pig Vikings to add a Viking army to my East of England Dark Age theme … and the left over bullrushes were the final component in a fenland landing camp scene I had been thinking about for some time.

(15mm Viking DBA wetlands camp element)

The idea is that this camp is some longships that have pulled ashore in a wetland inlet (and are being loaded with lot and captives)

Chopped up Essex ship, Peter Pig Vikings etc. etc.

There is a de-mountable Camp Follower element in the Viking camp.

Very nice, Phil. I wouldn't have thought those flats could look so good. You've done a great job all round.

Cheers,
Aaron

Thanks for the responses …

Aaron: flats were, of course, the _original ancients figures back in Tony Bath's day. They actually suit the age of the multi figure 'stand' I think. The base that boat is on is 60mm x 180mm (a max-sized camp base) … the 60mm depth just gives enough staging for the long model …

That's a lovely piece to display on the mantle, being a flat you could even frame it and hang it on the wall!

Great fun, Phil! I like the vikings but the flat is beautiful.

Those flats are great looking, what little pieces of art they truly are!

Great vignettes! Your camps are excellent. They're a ton of work but boy, your battlefields will pop with these.
