For the People from GMT.

If you just want to look at the maps you can download the vassal module for most of them to see them in detail.

Please enlighten me as to what a 'Point to Point' map is? I haven't heard the term before.

A point to point map has a series of dots or often squares that are connected by lines. The playing pieces/troop markers are placed on those dots/squares and move along the lines, from 'point to point.' Some points will have more lines leading from it than others. As a result, there can be 'choke points' that are not easily bypassed, and big intersections that give the troops there lots of movement options.

For examples, look at the boardgamegeek.com website, and search for the titles listed above.

Among the basic types of military board game maps are the venerable hex map, area maps like Risk and point to point maps like House Divided, etc.

Thanks for that. I now realise that I've used them in board games but never thought about what they were called.

the volley and bayonet yahoo group has the type of campaign map you want and also maps for a number of the battlefields in their files section. There is also part of the 1863 campaign that they did.
