Two battalions of French infantry from the beautiful Calpe range.

Enjoy,

Burkhard

Here is a little preview together with their 3rd battalion previously painted:

IMHO, Calpe are the best campaign style French on the market (I have got 100s of them in my collection).

You have done a great job on bringing them to life – well done sir!!

Excellent work, I especially like the mud on the boots and trousers.

Thanks guys!

@Raglan: I agree… they are the best on the market!

@ Chocolate: Thank you. If you are looking for a how to: link

@Lord Raglan: I always like the alternate heads Peter does. He does marvellous faces and those usually allow for more of them to be seen!

I'm a huge fan of the campaign look and you've done an excellent job of it. Perhaps the best looking French I've ever seen.

Calpe, taking over 28mm Napoleonics, one nation at a time ;-)

Its just a shame that Peter is a little slow with new releases, I don't think I will still be alive to see the release of French Guard Infantry.

Burkhard, first I have to say what a really great job you did with these guys. They truly look marched out and battle worn.
Now , the hard part…I truly love looking at your painted figures, and even have some of the pictures of your marine artillery book marked..but every time ZI look at your troops then look at mine ,my heart sinks and I can only pray that when in my next life my hands will have your talent for painting troops.

Wow Runicus, now I am even more humbled!

If it is any consolation… I have been painting for roughly 25 years. Up until about ten years ago I was happy to just slap paint on them. Ten years .imdecided ?I wanted something more and the first real improvements to this level came about five years ago. So it was a long process!

I have been doing 28mm's for about 18 months now.
Being older hands not very steady now but gradually getting a little better.
Used to construct and paint Historex 54mm.
If I knew how to add a picture to here would try??

paulalba03 Oct 2013 2:33 a.m. PST

Burkhard.I have been gaming for almost 40 years and painting a great deal of that. My eyes are going and my hands are not steady like they were at one time. I consider my 28mm troops something around a 7 or 8 for table top gaming ,but no were near museum quality. I do not paint the eyes, and unless it is major hussar lace,, forget it. But I am still proud of my rag tag troops who serve me well.

Runicus
p.s. Your French naval infantry still remain some of my favorite figures you have posted, and yes I have several battalions to do on my bucket list after I finish my Saxon project.
