1970 newsreel : link

Mostly weirdos playing with boats, model trains and scaletrix, but about 1minute in there's some fine wargaming action from a couple of sensible chaps.

And you can see the fore sight of the one player who mounted his troops on bases instead of single figure movement.

That rail roading set up with the older couple looked too much like actual work.

Great wargame scenes, anybody recognize those players. The figures look like mostly Minifigs Napoleonic's. The model railroad was very big but sterile. I much prefer the outdoor versions with lots of scenic terrain.

Very nice. My brother and I had trains. The biggest minus is once you have built the terrain, that's it. Until you scrap that, and build something new.

I agree with that Critter. I got a train set back when I was around 10, and I was so excited about it I thought I would die. My dad got me a big piece of plywood for it, and some buildings to make a village. I set everything up, and then came the big moment- I started the train and watched as it went round, and round, and round. It was so boring!
Finally after a few days of this I started running toy tanks through the village, with infantry and some air support, and it was much more fun. Been a wargamer ever since!

Nice video btw, 20thmaine.
