Cool plane!.

"The Fokker Dr.I is perhaps a legend in its own right. In fact, there's not much doubt about that. A number of 'Aces' had used these as their mounts at some stage in their service career, with Voss and von Richtofen being the most prominent. Technically speaking, Voss flew the F.1 variant, and von Richthofen met his untimely demise at the controls of his scarlet Dr.I in what has to be one of aviations biggest 'whodunnit' mysteries. I still believe that the Baron got it from flak artillery. The Brow claim is good for wartime propaganda and was thoroughly used as such at the time. Artillery getting him doesn't do much for cheering on the Allies….

It was the Australian AA gunners who got him, specifically

I read somewhere that Brown believed that he got him. The only complaints about that are the attack angles favoring more time for a ground shot. But in aerial combat all it takes is a fraction of a second for the angles to line up while shooting and then the fatal bullet is on its way.

1/72 scale! Whoa! those are some delicate, small parts!!…

Whether it was Brown or Popkin it was a Colonial not a Brit that got him!
