Hi Guys,
Just discovered Stone Mountain do a range of paints. Particularly interested to know if anyone out there has tried them? Especially interested in yes, you guessed it FRENCH BLUE, FRENCH DRAGOON GREEN, and ARTILLERY GREEN.

Thanks for any advice before I risk an order.

I've used their paints for years and love the results.

Their Middle East Flesh is great for Middle Easterners and South Asians, and their Ruddy is good for Caucasians. Their metallics are great as well, although I haven't tried the rust yet. Their other colors are excellent as well, but those are the ones are the ones that stand out in my opinion.

Isn't that the old Howard Hues paint line? If so, they will be pretty good. The consistancy was very creamy and didn't loose much hue when watered down for washes. Those and Armory were the most sought after ranges in the early 90's. After almost 15 years, I was able to send a bottle of red Armory paint to John the OFM to help him complete a project a few years back. I think it was the thick glass jars and cap liners that "was the ticket" back then that seemed to keep paint fresh back then. I would suspect that Dave Babb didn't change anything. Why mess with something that worked so well?

If these are the "Howards Hues" paints they are a bit odd. They are the only acrylics I've ever used that actually went mouldy in the jar. They used to be sold here as "Colour Party" and I had the same problem with them then.

Clearly not painting fast enough!

Clearly, D'Hautpol. At the finish, I chucked the stuff out -not just because of the mould problem but because it dried to a skin rather than a coating. I'd rather use craft paints than this stuff!

I have been using them for 20 years- they make every colour you need for Napoleonics, and mix well for specialty coulours to suit preference. They last FOREVER- I am still using 95% of a full line of 30 bottles that are 15-20 years old, and still work perfectly. A little goes a long way when it dispenses in drops. The droplet opening snap cap (they were one of the first rsnges to use it) preserves perfectly. There are no other paints I have tried that last so well, are so consistent, and so well suited for miniatures. The fact that they last so long has allowed me to use consistent color from the 1st figure to the 4,000th (6mm). However, I ordered some more last year, and was dissapointed with the pigmentation of the simple red compared to the same color of the first bottle I bought. It doesn't cover as well in a side by side test. The cavalry yellow, and different blues and greens are fine
