It's our own system, so I must confess that we're pretty satisfied with it ;) We've had some pretty good feedback on it though! |

Interesting. How's the ship construction system work? Do all ships rely on shields as a primary defense, or are there other viable tech families like armor or cloaking/stealth or regeneration effects? |

@Tim, thanks for popping the links in. @Chief, There are selection of basic hull types (frigrate, light cruiser etc) that have set weapon and system stats. There's then an extended ship building section that allows you to customise your ships (with restrictions on what you can take, dependant on their size). Shields provide the primary defence system, however there are additional systems for protection. In the battle report, BSS Longbow has a stealth system that doubles the range to the ship (harder to hit) and one of my ships , Constantinople, had ablative armour that helps reduce hull damage taken (like a ward save). The rules include 14 different weapons and 12 auxiliary systems with a selection of additional armours/defence systems. |
