Can anyone advise which paint(s) to use to achieve the correct blue colour for the Dutch Grenadiers greatcoat please?
Thanks

Shamelessly lifted from Artmaster Studios and works well for 28s but you may wish to be much lighter for a smaller scale.

50/50 Mix of VMC Dark Prussian Blue and Black an progressively lighten with VMC London Grey.

It will be for a 28mm. Need to watch more of Artmaster and remember what is said!!
Thanks

I believe the Artmaster grenadier is from the 1st Grenadiers [French] not the 3rd Regiment [Dutch]. The 3rd have almost a bright blue coloured greatcoat. Hence the question. Thanks though for reminding me about Toby's work

There was a period when all guardsmen wore steel grey greatcoats. There is one in la Musee de l'Armee. All to do with economising on dye. Dutch 3rd no different from the rest. Dark Blue and Steel Grey both work, just depends when!

Point noted. Thanks

The Dutch Grenadiers was not an Old Guard unit. It was designated a Middle Guard regiment.

Hi Kevin
Definitely Middle Guard. However, were the officers not designated Old Guard?
Kind regards
Allan

I don't think so as they didn't come from the senior grenadier and chasseur regiments.

Old and Middle Guard officers assigned to the Young Guard regiments kept their pay, their status, and their uniforms.
