My wife can't see a tractor trailer changing lanes 200 feet in front of us on an Interstate/Motorway but can spot a dirty fork across a table in a restaurant. She has the same ability with figures, telling me "It looks like you missed a spot there" or "why is the area around his knee lighter than the rest of his pants?". For that reason, I usually paint while she is out or after she's gone to bed. The other morning she asked what I'd painted the night before and I replied "They painted up nice, but the sculpts were dreadful". I almost choked on my coffee when she responded "I guess they weren't Perry figures".

I get accused of the reverse – I can spot a hobby shop by a small sign on a door several blocks away but something house-hold related, that is right in front of me…no chance.

It's all about the Woman's Guide to Happiness, don't you know: "Keep him down, keep him down, keep him down!"

Good story, Dennis.

I'd give her a paint brush, and an assignment……

IMHO, you should have her around when you paint. It sounds like she's handy for spotting errors.

My wife has ruined – RUINED – any number of my miniatures in a similar manner.

I painted a bunch of Macedonian Phalangites a while ago. They had, like many Macedonians, blue helmets. I painted what I thought was a nice insignia on some of the helmets. She took one look at them and said, "why are they wearing San Diego Chargers helmets?"

In the same army I had some Phalangites with Phrygian helmets. "They look like Smurf hats."

Thanks a lot, sweetie.
