I have two games scheduled at this year's NavCon, one Friday evening (the Friday evening games are new this year!) and another Saturday evening. I'll be running an Age of Sail game . . . Suffren VS Hughes in the Bay of Bengal, 1780; the same scenario I ran at the Seven Years War Con last April. If you're at the con, stop by and say hello. It's always good to put a face to a name.

27 events on the schedule so far! Everything from ancient galleys to modern missiles. Easily the world's premier all-naval gaming event.

Beautiful models, I'm jealous of those who get to participate in that game!

Beautiful ships! Too bad they are going to sail "on" the wrong continent.

By the way: interesting game area.

Wishing I could go. I don't get to do enough naval gaming, which I love!

Aquarius, I hope you meant "interesting" in a good way. ;)

If you'd like to see more about how I made it (and why), take a look at this photo set on my Flickr page:

The captions below each photo explain everything.

Jeff, yes, of course, in a very positive way!

Big ships need a lot of space to manoeuvre.
I have seen lot a different approaches to this topic, but yours is just great: realistic looking, easy to transport and store, not too hard to built = perfect game area.

Thanks for the link to your tutorial.

Looking forward to next Saturday. We registered a Naval Thunder game (Java Sea), but unfortunately the event list has not been updated in awhile.

Hope to see you there.

I just heard from Ron that they are doing the final update now, and double-checking the event times (mine are at 7PM on Friday and 5PM on Saturday). If you haven't heard from him yet, you should soon. I would guess that the final version will be on the website by tomorrow.

See you all at the con. Don't be shy . . . step up and introduce yourselves. I'll be the guy either running Age of Sail games or walking around with a camera.
