Thanks for the reply Henry, that's interesting as I did wonder how many questionnaires were actually returned. I always filled mine in religiously, but then forgot to post it. I think I managed to return one.

So… we've established that:

A) everyone's taste is different – that, ideally, we all want something slightly different from the next guy

B) one magazine – by definition – cannot please everyone on every occasion

C) a magazine is not a book with one overriding topic but is in a (gosh) 'magazine' format

D) for some bizarre reason, not everyone on the internet – and especially forums – is happy with the name on their birth certificate
