Hi I'm looking to start a Traveller campaign probably using the original Classic version. I want to get some (15mm) mini's – character – some generic NPC's a few vehicles mainly unarmed and also some spaceships (from a few cm's up) for the starship bits. I don't have anything at all but would prefer to get some of the old traveller mini's. As far as I can tell RAFM now have the moulds but I've heard less than great storys of the service and delivery (plus I'm in the UK). My second choice so far is Ground Zero Games figures and spaceships which seem to be a good starter. I've also heard ad-astra have the spaceship licence but seem difficult to get and I'm not sure about the scale. Any comments or hints. Military figures and vehicles are obviously easy to get but for more unarmed stuff what is the best and/or mix well with the old traveller and/or GZG stuff? cheers Geoff |

Artechaos a French online store on eBay UK (look up 15mm sci fi) carries some RAFM figures which might be suitable. I ordered Planetary militia and they arrived in a week. |

Have not had a problem ordering from RAFM. So many incredible sources these days. RAFM are kind of chunky next to other ranges, but I love their character. The Martian Metals figures from the old days are small compared to anyone else and not in production as far as I know. Your best mix for them would be Khurasan or Rebel minis. Ground Zero are good too. Since you are in the UK have you tried 15mm UK? They still make the old Laserburn figures. If you are starting out I would recommend a mix of Khurasan and Rebel. Splintered Light also makes a "not Firefly" crew that is great. Here are some links. Good hunting! link link rebelminis.com link |

You're in the UK? Buy GZG. Huge range of civilian scifi stuff, armed colonists types that make great seedy adventurers, etc. He's blindingly fast shipping across the pond, locally the stuff probably shows up as you hit the submit button on the order form. :) corporalpat's other suggestions are good too. Never heard anything negative about RAFM's shipping – they aren't super fast, but they've never been slow or inaccurate for me either. |

RAFM shipping can be a little expensive, but its the Customs charges and the Post Office bill for £8.00 GBP to collect the Customs charges that put me off ordering from them. I'd add The Scene thesceneuk.com to your list of suppliers. Also don't discount the Western, WW2 and Modern ranges of miniatures out there. |

Alternative Armies have a good load of 15mm sci-fi miniatures, from the classic Laserburn figures and vehicles (air-rafts included! also Imperial marines in power armour and a lot of adventurers) to newer (and more detailed) figures. Laserburn was evidently inspired by Traveller, or by Traveller's source material (and, in turn, has inspired WH40K). link link 15mm.co.uk/SHM_Range.htm |

Here's my list of what I landed on for figures for particular units, although there's still some sorting out to do – I seem to buy minis on a "to be determined later" basis. I've never had problems with RAFM's service or shipping though, and other than maybe the old Martian stuff, it's the only way to get Vargr and Aslan (although Khurasan's Felids could do in a pinch). Imperial Marine Scouts – armed as light Marines (15mm UNSC Lights) Imperial Marine Commandos – armed as Marines (UNSC Hardsuits) Imperial Guards (UNSC PA) Imperial Army Jump Troops (Rebel EFM Droptroopers) Imperial Army – (Rebel EFM) Zhodani Lift Infantry (15mm NI) Zhodani Lift Cavalry (15mm NI) Zhodani Commando Groupment (15mm NI) Zhodani Tavrchedl' Commandos (=Elite Thought Police) (15mm NI Command) Zhodani Querion Colonial Infantry (15mm NI) Zhodani Scouts (15mm NI) Zhodani Chiakrzi Warbots ("Sandstorm") (assorted 15mm types) Solomani Army (15mm RAFM Infantry Type 1 or 2) Solomani Confederation Marines (RAFM Type 3) Solomani Confederation Marines Power Armour (15mm RAFM PA) Solomani Home Guard (low tech infantry – Rebel Home Guard) • Generic Planetary Army (RAFM infantry type 4) Geonee – Rebel's Sons of Thunder Darrians – Critical Mass or Brigade Models UK have the tall skinny look Sword Worlders – Probably something leftover J'aadje – Rebel Brogs Hhkar (aka Dragonmen) – Khurasan's Garn Bwaps – Khurasan's Chewks Verm – Khurasan's crabmen Saurians – Gator Guys (can't remember who they're from now) For the K'kree, all I know of that might work are Khurasan's future three-legged centaurs. Hivers are tough too, Khurasan has a couple of figures that might work, but not packs of them. I also haven't taken a look to see if I need to adjust things with some of the new Home Guard releases etc. (hard to keep up with Rebel and Khurasan!). |

As mentioned, RAFM and GZG are probably best, though some of the other ranges offer useful figs too. RAFM offer the Droyne, which no one else does, currently. If you are in the market for Grav Armor, you might consider our range of vehicles, since we offer 13 different models, in two hull surface finishes (26 total, in our smooth hull, and AADS models – the latter with the circular, surface detailing on them). All of our vehicles are available in both the smooth hull, and AADS finishes.

Yeah, the Top Gun stuff is for the Imperial Marine's newest gear in my universe; I use RAFM's grav tank for 2nd line Imperial armor. GZG's Gun Sleds will get some use too. For Aslan, I use Brigade UK's PacFed, and am waiting on Darkest Star's stuff to get into 15mm for the Vargr. |

Many thanks Gents Thats all really good helpful stuff cheers Geoff |

Ravenstar has some top-notch 15mm vehicles to consider too. His grav-mobile stuff looks very Aslan-ish to me. |

For my Imperial forces, I'm planning on using my range of Grav Armor, and GZG's new UNSC Hardsuit troopers, since I think they pair with one another very nicely, and are reasonable proxies for all the Traveller art I've seen produced over the years. Only took 30+ years for me to finally be able to field a proper force of Imperials, in 15mm scale. For the Zhodani, I recommend the Eureka Miniatures Ventauran figure sculpts, matched with either the GZG Advanced or High Tech Grav Armor. |

@boy wundyr x For K'kree you can use GZG's Crusties
linkPlus you can use these guys as well

For K'kree you can use GZG's Crusties You're thinking of something else – the K'Kree are the centauroid militant vegetarian herd-mentality race. Baccus does a nice range of them in 6mm, but I can't think of a good in-production cognate for 15mm. link I guess the GZG Ixx might do if you squint really, really hard. :) |

Your right I was thinking of Kafers oops :D

Chef Lackey Rich | 13 Sep 2013 10:47 a.m. PST |
Now those, the Crusties would work for just dandy. Plenty of very nice T2300 vehicle options in the GZG ranges, too. |

@CLR – thanks for the Baccus link, I'm doing bigger Traveller battles in 6mm and didn't have any K'kree there either – till now. Back to the OP (missed this bit earlier), Khurasan has some good unarmed figures. |

The K'kree seemed so awful that Dave Nilsen even had them set to star as borg-ised super-villains in the never-completed TNE cycle. Huh, who knew? Never heard that one before, although it would have added a nice touch to the Vampire Fleets silliness. I ran an old Traveller campaign in the mid-80s where they PCs had misjumped to the far side of K'Kree space and promptly gotten entangled in a massive invasion of Centaur space by a coalition of photovore species – ie Triffids with guns and their botanical cousins. Turns out that being a militant vegetarian isn't such a great idea when your neighbors consider photosynthesis to be a sign of racial superiority and all. Had a lot of fun with that one for a couple of years, it was nice to reverse the usual trope and have the K'Kree getting massacred by enemies who regarded their eating habits as intolerable for a change. |

Cool Collins355 – thanks for some of the background, too bad Megatraveller Jounral wasn't a GDW publication, it'd probably be available from Wargames Vault/RPGNow like the Challenge mags are. |

Maybe just maybe if one could ask very nicely Khurasan might help (a set of non-K'kree)
the upper right could do as a very good stand in for the K'kree part of the jasmine force set #2 khurasanminiatures.tripod.com |

The Martian Metals K'kree were really nice. Anyhow, I've always had a soft spot for the Lords of Thunder module that Megatraveller Digest put out near the end. Dave Nielsen's take on Traveller basically scuttled an entire edition. I actually liked TNE but it was released before it was ready and always suffered from errata issues. |

I've always thought that Ground Zero Games' Phalons would make good J'aadje – particularly as re-imaged in the GURPs Aslan Book, with the unusual double knee joint. Rebel Mini's Earth Force Red Guard link have been suggested as Solomani by Keith Frye link They are very nice figs. |

Thanks War Monkey for pointing out those Kurasan figs which would make great not-K'kree if they were done in an expanded range. |

Gents I went with GZG on the day. I would have got some of Antenociti's excellent terrain but ran out of sheckles. The GZG stuff is terrific though and I'll supplement them with lots of your suggestions when I next get some pocket money :0) cheers Geoff |

Finally dug it up, here's my (future) K'Kree stand-in, eventually due to be available from Khurasan (as Species 84):

Here is a pic of some of our Topgun Grav Armor, with the AADS surface detailing, painted up very nicely by Harold Crossley (Type 9 Light Tank and 2 x Type 22 IFVs), fielded with GZG troops:
