Hi!

Another report from my SAGA in 15mm project, this time the Battle at the Ford scenario. It proved to be a hard trial for my Normans.

Great writeup! I just painted up two units of Norman Knights to go with my foot units so I'll have to give it a try. I love that you did this in 15mm. It's a great scale for this game and will allow it to be played on a really small surface. As for tactical advice, roll better always works!

The Japanese would have simply allowed the enemy to occupy the bridge and put archers in range of it. They liked to soften up the field before sending in the Samurai. The Normans have lots of mounted options and good crossbows. That would have been my approach. Protect the crossbows with the cavalry on their flank, shoot up the defense on the bridge and then crush the resistance. Saving Saga dice on the battleboard for the tactics you want to use is definitely an option.

Finally, use your Warlord abilities every single turn you can. Those guys are dynamite in battle, but only if you work them like a rented mule.

Glad you liked it. As for the warlord, I am still too timid in using him, as I fear losing him – that would deprive me of two SAGA dice. But I'll try to use him more offensively next time.
