6mm Rapier Greek archers – just a test run to see if I like the scale.

Quite happy with those.

Cheers!

Wow.. very nice. Those wouldn't shame a 15mm figure.

Very cool. I took out my Microworld Games 6mm figures yesterday to get back to work on them. It's a neat scale…

Top notch painting.

Love them, absolutely love them.

Very impressive!

Rapier – I bought them ages ago to use as antefixes on a 15mm scale temple. They proudly sit up on that roof, all in gold. These are the first ones I've painted as miniatures.

Nice:)

What are the bases?

Cerdic09 Sep 2013 9:03 a.m. PST

Love 6mm for BIG battles with loads of figures!

Rapier are very nice figures and mix well with Baccus so you can have more variety.

First Great Painting I really like your style

One suggestion would be to build up the ground surface to the top of the base to help the figures blend into their terrain

Very well done!

Excellent painting on 6mm!

HarryHotspurEsq09 Sep 2013 1:09 p.m. PST

Based on 40x20mm bases.

Mapleleaf – I agree completely. This was just a test unit and I need to find a better ground cover to disguise the base of the figures a little more.

colin knight09 Sep 2013 2:32 p.m. PST

bases are too thick IMHO. Painting and figures very good.

whitejamest09 Sep 2013 5:11 p.m. PST

Beautiful work! Respectfully disagree with Collin, I like thick bases because they make it so much easier to pick up a small piece safely – all the more important with very small scale figures that can bend easily. But to each his own of course.

Very Well Done!

Thanks for all the encouragement guys. This will be next years project I think.

Colin Knight – yes, the bases are deep – 3mm to be precise, plus 1mm for the magnet, so 66% the height of the figures. However, as James says, thick bases are handy with small and fragile troops.

Here are the same lads with builder's sand on the base rather than the silty stuff previously used.

oldbob17 Sep 2013 10:36 a.m. PST

I do like the bases and I can see the detail on the figures. Nice brush work!

Caesar18 Sep 2013 1:55 p.m. PST

The contrast with the ground cover really makes them pop.

Harry, v. nice paint job, esp at the scale!

On the bases, it seems common for gamers using Rapier to sand/file down the bases. By all accounts a tedious effort but worth it. (I should add this is on reading the work of others – like Cranium27's blog – as I don't have any Rapier myself.) Seems like the sand works just fine though!
