The Hive will meet 3D printing!

Please read Richard's article on starting up a 3D printing business. His first products will be Hive, Queen and Country bugs in 15 and 25mm scales.

Quite nice. Did I miss an ETA on them going on sale?

tsofian07 Sep 2013 10:05 a.m. PST

No ETA, yet. Richard is gonna be running a Kickstarter presently

Shades of Naked Lunch. Beautiful, but… Yikes. Arachnophobes need not apply!

They get to play the Human side and kill bugs!

WOW!

LOL

Looks awesome, but it looks like the prototype might not survive if you leave it lying around where the dog can reach it. He already has his eyes fixed on it!

The look on the Dog's face says "Crunchy!"

As obedient as they are 99% of the time, when my dogs get that same obsessed look on their faces, I know it's time for me to decide between dropping what I have in my hands or running for my life.

I'm anxiously awaiting to see more of your fabulous models in 15mm scale. They are definitely on my buy list! I wish you great success.

Richard D12 Sep 2013 4:02 p.m. PST

I should mention that the dog in the pic considered the bug a great new chew toy. According to the Form Labs personnel that printed that was the second bug as the first was "eaten".

Terry maybe the Brits should engineer giant puppies to eat the Hive?

The Kickstarter is live:

Some very good deals there if it gets funded, although some (like the $350 USD 15mm level) seem a little off. Kind of surprised there hasn't been more discussion about this, given that there was a fron-page TMP story a few days back:

We are definitely hoping to build a buzz here. I personally think that giant bugs are the next zombies, they are way cooler and don't decay all over the carpet.

Help us build the buzz by spreading the word through twitter and facebook and any other method (heck you might even want to mention this verbally to your friends when you see them in person-if anyone still does that!

Great deals will happen when we get funded, so help us out if you can!

Thanks
Richard (and Terry)
