The Neo Sov BTR is on its way to production and I should have some further news next week on this, however meantime Ive (when I say I
.I mean a pro!:)) been working on the PLA /Neo Chinese figures and also their transport. Here is the latest render. It still needs a little work and an additional drone to be attached (still thinking on that), however as the BTR I am rather pleased with it.
Comments welcome Keith |

Hmm, Ok, but not that good as first one IMHO. I am not a fan of the sides as they are. Well they are Ok but a bit meh |

I think I prefer this one actually. I think

What would be kinda cool is a rear mounted MG
say on a small remote mount controlled from the infantry bay covering the rear 180? |

Looks very nice. The viewport in front is a little retro looking. I suppose the future neo-Soviets have developed a transparent material that is as strong as the armor? OK, that works. The turret is nifty and is the thing I like best about it. It seems to resemble the "Terminator" BMPT "Ramka" en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMPT Which is a good thing, IMHO. If I was to suggest a change, it would be to make the barrels of the weapons look a bit more sci-fi. Maybe more ribbing or external grooves? |

Not warming to it I'm afraid. Looks dated compared to the infantry sculpts, which I adore. |

Sorry but I'm with McWong, another generic 15mm 8x8 wheeled APC to join a crowded market. |

I'm gonna have to disagree I think it has a unique look without being over the top. I think it'll be great for OpFor or any future bloc type armies or PLA. I love the panel work. |

I'm also a fan I like the zigzag armoured paneling and the combo weapon turret, its generic enough for any force if you want it to be while still keeping its near future appeal. |
Splod89 | 05 Sep 2013 8:18 p.m. PST |
Love it! As someone who has spent time in armoured vehicles, I'd rather not have openings in the armour for enemies to shoot through. If the targets are close enough to fire back with small arms, you should be on foot engaging them rather than sitting in a tin can. |
John Treadaway | 06 Sep 2013 1:16 a.m. PST |
I like all of it. The zig zag sides are just different enough. How about a support version a long, hulllength turret which could still have an un manned look mounting a bigger gun. Nice work John T |
Armiesarmy | 06 Sep 2013 6:01 a.m. PST |
Thanks :) most of you! :) John the apc will also have a mobile gun system version. A big cannon on the top. Rather like the stryker MGS
plus some others |

Argh, another 8-wheel transport I like. I'm never gonna be able to decide what to have my space commies ride in! I'm spoiled for excellent choices. :) Anyway, I DO like it and look forward to seeing the actual model! -Will |
zonk76 | 06 Sep 2013 6:57 a.m. PST |
I like it. Personally, I don't think you can have too many wheeled APC/IFV variants. Just look at all the wheeled variants around today in modern armies. For that matter, I don't think you can too many tracked, grav or hover variants either. The more variety available, the more diverse my forces are! Just my opinion
take it for what it's worth, with inflation, not much :) |
dwartist | 06 Sep 2013 7:53 a.m. PST |
I like it! I would mention though that the weapon system is very reminiscent of the armanent on AW's Kabardin APC. One mor point
as with most if not all 15/28mm wheeled sci-fi vehicles available the depth of the wheel 'arch' doesn't seem deep enough for the wheels to steer. |
khurasanminiatures | 06 Sep 2013 8:01 a.m. PST |
I would mention though that the weapon system is very reminiscent of the armanent on AW's Kabardin APC. Actually David I think it looks even more like the turret of our Yozhik --
|
Armiesarmy | 06 Sep 2013 8:12 a.m. PST |
Dwartist I have work to do on the rear doors and the wheels arches :) And Khurasan No I don't think it does. I also don't think its particularity sporting you put up a post of your own vehicle on a fellow vendors post. |
khurasanminiatures | 06 Sep 2013 8:23 a.m. PST |
It's not a problem if I'm illustrating an unusually close similarity. |
Angel Barracks | 06 Sep 2013 8:23 a.m. PST |
No I don't think it does. Nor me, maybe it is a not very subtle way of trying to cash in on what the cool kids are talking about and push his own wares?
I also don't think its particularity sporting you put up a post of your own vehicle on a fellow vendors post. Seems it is that after all. Alas not everyone has manners and respect for others. I see Combat Wombat has a link to your website on his store Armies Army:

Now that is a nice thing to do.

turrets look very similar to my eyeballs anyway!!! |
Armiesarmy | 06 Sep 2013 8:43 a.m. PST |
Not that I am after starting a bum fight
. Id like to ask which bit?
In that its a turret? In that it rotates? In that it has a weapon on either side? Ill give you the fact that its an apc with a turret. You got me there
|
Heinz Good Aryan | 06 Sep 2013 8:51 a.m. PST |
you mean me? i don't want a bum fight either!!! (what is that) i just look at them and the shapes are the same, i guess that's why i think they look very similar??? lol |
Armiesarmy | 06 Sep 2013 8:56 a.m. PST |
No Porfirio I am talking to Khurasan as I am not sure what he is implying. |
khurasanminiatures | 06 Sep 2013 9:07 a.m. PST |
Not implying anything, just pointing out that the two turrets look very similar. If that's ok with you, that's fine. I know when I have a design made I try to have it look as distinctive as possible from other pieces in the market. |
Chef Lackey Rich | 06 Sep 2013 9:21 a.m. PST |
I don't see the similarity. AA's render has a symmetric gun layout on the turret. Khurasan's is asymmetric, much like the off-center barrels on some of the older GZG figs and the gun-on-one-side-missiles-on-the-other Brigade vehicles. Wonder which came first, the Yohzik or the ONESS Baldur light tank? They're probably the closest kin in terms of turret design. |
BigNickR | 06 Sep 2013 9:43 a.m. PST |
that rear deck is just begging for a "luggage rack" with a quartet of quad- or tri-rotor recon drones |
Armiesarmy | 06 Sep 2013 10:11 a.m. PST |
Rich Other then that though its the same right?
:) Khurasan
I still get the feeling you are implying I have copied your design In fact, I go through a rather rigourous development plan for all my bits. I choose 'real' apcs as my inspiration and modern forces for my infantry. I draw up sketches, get pros to help, customers even to help and open most things up to the wonderful community I hobby in. I then have a google group 'ArmiesArmy Den' which I invite customers, friends and other trusted vendors to give me feeback and design advice. They are honest and frank and Ive delayed/cancelled several projects because I trust their judgement. If they thought I was ripping another vendor off, be sure they would of told me. So to be fair, Im going to continue to do what I do and the way I do it. If you think Ive ripped a design off then so be it. Its rather ironic I think. I don't jump on any bandwagons, In fact I think near future was rather niche for me to be involved in, probably why you offered to buy them. I also don't do any 'not' figures just in case I do infringe on IP, just to be clear on that. thanks though, Im sure you will be happy for me to point out any similarities of your own products, on your own threads? Saying that, I wouldn't do that Cheers Keith |
Armiesarmy | 06 Sep 2013 10:14 a.m. PST |
BigNick I was planning that I may include these bad boys on the roof. They are the PLA weapons grav platforms. They will have different weapon systems link cheers Keith |

thanks though, Im sure you will be happy for me to point out any similarities of your own products, on your own threads? Absolutely -- if you see me previewing something that you think looks very similar to something you make, then I would like to know -- I might have missed it. I would consider it to be a benefit to me. |
arngrimson | 06 Sep 2013 11:53 a.m. PST |
There are only so many shapes that make sense for human vehicles/AFVs/APCs/turrets/planes/trains & automobiles. So some will look abit alike. |
GeoffQRF | 06 Sep 2013 1:50 p.m. PST |
Not sure either are particularly unique and borrow heavily on existing real world designs. Very little is genuinely uniquely new. |
dwartist | 06 Sep 2013 2:02 p.m. PST |
oops – sorry I mentioned it! I thought it worth mentioning as i'm sure most 15mm gamers would have armies with vehicles and figures from several manufacturers and perhaps a different turret might be beneficial to all. It could be said, Jon, that yours too is similar to AW's
|
Splod89 | 06 Sep 2013 2:13 p.m. PST |
It's a remote mount with multiple weapon hard points. Of course they're going to look similar. |
SirFjodin | 06 Sep 2013 5:10 p.m. PST |
Khurasan Yozhik is a near future vehicle heavily based on Russian Terminator BMP-T
Armies Army near future APC is based on modern 8x8 APC vehicles. Here is the boring world of modern APC:
PS: the drivers visor can be closed during battle with special pop-up armor plate. |
GeoffQRF | 06 Sep 2013 10:36 p.m. PST |
There are probably a dozen remote weapon station turrets on the market with similar configurations. Have a look at the Ukrainian BTR turrets as well. Other than being RWS with weapons mounted both sides, can't say as I see much similarity (unless you are trying to imply he has used your turret on his vehicle, which he clearly hasn't). AA, nice APC. |
John Treadaway | 07 Sep 2013 2:03 a.m. PST |
I have looked at all of the vehicles in question. I think there are some similarities, sure. That's understandable as they all have a similar jumping off point – near future, "believable" sf – so they are all going to 'mix and match' from the same sort of components. This is about more than whether anyone is actually copying anyone, however. From a gamer's perspective, though, it really is a golden moment: more choice for the near future look in the 'scale du jour'. From the manufacturer's point of view
all I can say is there's room for you all. As long as the gamers buy enough! John "I must write these into a Slammers Detachment List" Treadaway |

"Here is the boring world of modern APC:" Never mind the APCs, what about the lucky manufacturer of the tires in those photos? Despite the vehicles represented being from points all 'round the world, the tires all appear to be of an identical type. Plainly a lot of money to be made "where the rubber meets the road", when it comes to AFV tires. Duck |

Any manufacturer whose products include fairly close copies of characters and hardware from well-known films and/or computer games should think very, very carefully before pointing the finger at similarities in another's products. Anyway: it's a nice APC. Not necessarily to my taste, but it looks a nice business-like piece of kit. As an alternative to the usual support variant (ie. bigger gun/bigger turret on top), how about mounting a large fixed railgun-type affair on one of the angled sides? It might also be interesting to see this with the fan system from the neo-soviet model added as an after-market modification

I really don't wish to comment further on the accusations, so Ill simply say thanks to everyone who has commented and thanks to those whom have contacted me. Happy to discuss this off list if you want to contact me at my blog armiesarmy.blogspot.co.uk Back to the APC
.. Ill have a think on all the ideas, including the rail gun on the side. I like that idea alot! More renders to follow..probably on new thread, so we can bury this one. For those wanting a stronger sci fi model, wait until you see my 'Enemy unknown' lines vehicles :) Keith AA |
