Hey all,

Despite the game coming out in 1993 I have only just discovered DS2 this week (but not bad because I only got back into 6mm this summer). Very impressive.

Looks to be no problem to make up designs for my new plasmablast stuff and our existing BT – but does anyone have any design examples or mod suggestions for GW-Epic stuff? Lots of it fits in fine, but there are a list of things I can see not in there – like walker close combat weapons, power armour that's not super fast, more infantry options etc. Just curious if anyone has already gone down this path (I'd be shocked if someone hadn't give the time that has gone by).

Thanks,
-Tim

This is the best resource for Dirtside. It has the varients for Epic, BattleTech and more.

@jekinder6
Wow, awesome stuff – exactly what I was looking for.

@Legion 4
Thanks for the link. I'm registered on TacCom but have not seen so much discussion DS2 itself (I should probably do some searching instead of just browsing) – but great support for 6mm in general.

I remember building a Mega-Gargant with the Dirtside II rules, I think I equipped it with two nuclear missiles just for fun…

Probably the best way to go regarding rules by the way. The only caveat is if you travel a lot. I wish there were more Dirtside players in my area. I may have to make the effort to do this myself. Have heard nothing but good about the rules. Not that there is anything wrong with Epic Armageddon. I just like the idea of being able to field other universes.

Anyone using the rules for other than 6mm? I keep looking at all the wonderful 15mm stuff out there these days ;-)

Hi!

Long ago I made a full list of conversions for all the epic armies available at the time. It uses the FMA die system and integrates Steve Gibson's infantry mod as well as some mods of my own.

I though it was lost, but its still available here:

Primarch,

Thanks that's a pretty a very impressive document – no less than 172 pages of pure epic conversion. We will make good use of that.

I think we'll play a bit with the regular rules to get a feel for the game as is, and then go through this and decide what to add in to help us model whatever we are using. As one of our players is Eldar, we'll probably be adding in a lot of this stuff!

Also, I've read most of the rules, but have a question (the first of many I'm sure). If a vehicle is "damaged" – what happens if its damaged again? Does it just stay damaged or is it "knocked out".

Hi!

Tim, I played a "damaged" vehicle that is damaged again as knocked out.

I found it to be a lot less confusing that way. :)

I really enjoyed using epic figures with these rules. It may be time to update this document. ;)

Primarch,

Thanks – that sounds reasonable. Nobody likes a tank the refuses to die and just gets damaged over and over again for no effect (reminds me of some annoying 40k 3rd edition games I had).

I really like your conversions for Epic, but I need to get some games into get a feel for it. At first I wasn't sure about the titans being modular – but then I thought about Epic Space Marine and the cool titan hit location charts and was sold.

The other thing I'm not sure about are the tonnes of weapons on some 40k vehicles and getting to fire all of them. I think I might reserve that for very special cases and for the rest strive to have stuff count as APSW and bump some of the super heavies to size 6-7 to get the multiple fire controls.

I think I'd also like to expand on the access to AV weapons for infantry – would be very cool for devastator squads and the like.

Gotta play first though!

Hi!

Please share your thoughts (and ideas) when you get to play test them.

I would very much like to hear them! :)

Here's my e-mail when you ever get around to testing stuff drop me a message with your input.
