I am having a go at making a futuristic 4x4 pickup truck for my Junkers to drive around in blowing stuff up. I have not tried to make a vehicle before, so it has taken me a long time to get to where I currently am, as I am learning as I go (and making mistakes as I go too) All in all though for my first attempt I think it may be good enough to release through my business, at least when it is done that is. There is still a bit to do on it yet.

Nice, what are the wheels off of? |
Angel Barracks | 04 Sep 2013 6:47 a.m. PST |
Disposable lighter flint wheels. ;) |

I like that alot. You should also do one with Stowage in it

Quite easy to make a 6 wheeler as well from that start point |

Make an MG or variant of to put on the back of that bad boy and one guy from junkers/insurgents that goes with it. Would def buy that for my insurgents. |

In fact if I can find a source of those wheels, I might steal the idea for making wheels

The main Bullfrog Pickup itself is done. Added some hinges on the front to show where the cab hinges forward so the driver can enter. Has a wiper, some headlights and twin loud exhausts to scare the locals into thinking a bigger vehicle is coming. Almost finished the rocket pod variant. Just need to green stuff a few hoses and doo-dads.
It is not a slick clean CAD images like say this:
But they all end up looking the same when cast, IE like metal. So hopefully once a master is done I can get it into a production mould and then have some Junker games!
All in all I am pleased with my first attempt at making a 6mm vehicle. There are flaws and some of the edges are a fraction of a degree out unlike my CAD models, but this is a junker vehicle after all, that and I want to practice my scratch-building. |

Indeed TheRatGod, that is the idea that is in my head. I will get that done once the main pickup and rocket pod version are all ok. Then some other variants
:D |

Angel Brracks "What are those?" It's the land vehicle from Homeworld cut scene. Or similarly link link mostly I'm going by the big fat wheels |
Angel Barracks | 09 Sep 2013 5:36 a.m. PST |
Ooh I quite like that bottom one. I wonder if i can add big wheels to my Camel somehow?
|
Echoco | 09 Sep 2013 5:54 a.m. PST |
"I wonder if i can add big wheels to my Camel somehow?" Give me a hammer and a file and anything is possible :D You could stick a little larger washers on the sides to cover the old wheels and built it up with green stuff around the new wheel to make the wheel wells? |
Gaz0045 | 09 Sep 2013 6:08 a.m. PST |
Yes-Larger balloon tyres with dust/mud guards (*) on the upper parts
mounted over the existing wheels to lift the entire chassis accordingly
..for an ATV Explorer version-( mine serve as buses)? (*)- recently had two tyres blown by rocks and a window blown in by a cast up stone from a balloon tyre- need extended mudguards!) |

Not the greatest sculpt or indeed the greatest military vehicle. But as my first attempt at making my own vehicles I am happy enough to offer it for sale.
With enough practice I hope to offer to truly excellent models as made by my own fair hand. This goes on sales soon as a pack of 4 models, 2 of each. |
Gaz0045 | 15 Oct 2013 8:01 a.m. PST |
Turned out nice again
.. Now we need a tri-barrel or hmg equivalent on a pole with crewman for the pick up

That is in the next set of variants

These are looking great AB. Any chance I might be able to pick some up through Brigade models at Crisi2013 like I did the RDF figures last year? |

Thanks! Sorry, these are not cast by Brigade

Looking good Michael. I'll be able to spend money soon!! ;-) |
Hey bo didley | 18 Oct 2013 1:49 p.m. PST |
Really cool. Love all your stuff. Any chance of an APC like this? To scale with 6-8mm figures (noticed lots of UK 6mm is real 6mm, but US 6mm is more like 8-9mm Z Scale). All to be about 10 tons so not to big not not too small.
For battletech. Because the old school battletech APCs are either those chunky big boxes on wheels or have no model at all. |
Angel Barracks | 21 Oct 2013 2:14 a.m. PST |
Hiya. My 6mm tends to be on the bigger side so I suspect most of my stuff would be what you are after. No new APCs planned yet. Still the Pathfinder Paladin to bring out.. I have not finished the paint job yet but here is a WIP of the Bullfrog Truck with Rocket Pod:

Looking good, maybe a trailer unit for the pick up to haul them around
.or chop down the pick up to make a 'tractor' unit for a longer trailer
semi-trailer as the cousins call them

UPDATE The Junker Bullfrog Trucks should be here soon. For those of you that saw them a while back and thought they should be out by now, you are correct. I sent them to a new caster who had done me a sample of a Flak Worm which was excellent. The thought of getting excellent quality models for less excited me. I received a couple of samples from the new chap and painted them up:
He then sent me the ones that would be used in the production mould. These however were nowhere near as good. After a bit of discussion it became clear to both of us that it was not going to be. So after re-building the original model which was damaged in the casting process I sent them to my normal (more expensive) caster.
The samples came back today and are perfect, non of the issues that the new chap had. I have instructed them to make a production mould. However until this is made I can not be sure of the cost of them. I will keep you updated. |
