Very nice. I used to live in a shophouse in Singapore which was very similar to those, in particular to the one at top left. It still had no glass in the windows, just iron bars and wooden shutters. This was just a matter of 5 or 6 years ago.

The upper floors jut out over the footpath, which are public walkways, taking the extra space in return for providing much-needed shade to pedestrians. It is a good bargain.

The original inhabitants would be shocked beyond belief at what they are worth now.
