I was looking at some 1:72 boxes on the basis that they always used to be the cheapest way of getting armies on the table. They now seem to be catching up with the price of 15mm metals. What's going on there?

I'm not sure what you mean. I've just bought a box of Zvezda Samurai which has 44 figures for £7.57 GBP inc p&p. In 15mm they'd be nearly £20.00 GBP + p&p maybe more depending on manufacturer.

Zvezda and Italeri have certainly increased their prices more than others such as Hat, Strelets, etc.

Metals are also going through another round of price increases

Lancashire games 60 foot for £15.00 GBP – as you said, price depends a lot on the manufacturer. I could easily pay £1.00 GBP+ a model too!

Sounds like I'd better get buying the metals before they go up.

Peter Pig are pretty much 'the state of the art' in genuine 15mm and cost 35p (£2.80 for a pack of 8 figures). With most 15s you get 4 cavalry for the same price (which is often not the case with plastics … so mounted figures might be where the differential is closing faster) …

These days, however, most of your average box of plastic figures will be useful to the wargamer (which wasn't always the case) – so they still constitute great value I think

Ours are still 25p a figure… Not as cheap as plastic but…
