Lots of Russian vehicles to paint, wish to modulate. Base colour of the standard Vallejo Russian Green. I know I could add white etc. to this colour to make it lighter, but keeping this consistent in my airbrush is difficult/time consuming. Which Vallejo colour would be best as a lighter version of the Russian green?

Thanks

I use X-58 with XF-4 yellow mix for highlights. XF-58 is a very close match to Vallejo Russian Green.

Hi Sgt Dutch, thanks for your comments and i like your blog -some great work there.

I am just looking for a single colour that is slightly lighter than the Russian green, that i can use straight from the bottle and then blend with the Russian green – using blending/filters.

If you google "Vallejo Paint Chart" you'll find a few handy guides that show their ranges.

For example:

In my experience they don't go exactly "lighter/darker" but vary in shade slightly – so you might not get "lighter" as much as "lighter (and a bit more yellow)" or the like.

GrandKenyon84. I have premixed the highlight in another jar. That way I always have the color ready to use.

OK thanks Sgt. Dutch and ScottS.

In the latest WSS mag, someone sprayed using the PSC spray (which is same as Russian Green?).

For a lighter colour he used Vallejo Camo Olive (894).
