I bought a couple of hundred magnetic circles that stick to the undersides of GW slotta bases from Litko and was unhappy with their magnetic power. I used both sheet metal and magnetic sheeting from a sign store and the base just don't hold well. The slightest bump spills them all over the place. And the large 40 mm bases don't fit into the GW movement trays. I complained to Litko abbout that and was told to cut them down and that it was GW's fault for making the movement trays to small. So, I am done with Litko.

Who makes bases that will have enough magnetic pull to actually hold in place. Thanks.

If you don't mind cutting them yourself, you can buy magnetic cards at an office supply store and stick that to the bottom of the bases. Basically, they sell packages of self-adhesive magnetic strips the size of a business card so people can make quick and dirty refrigerator magnets by sticking their business cards on them. It's what I did a decade or so ago when there was no such place as Litko. However, my movement trays were sheet metal, so the magnets had direct contact. I don't think the magnetic card is powerful enough to grip through a plastic movement tray to sheet metal glue underneath.

I've used small (2mm thick, 4mm or so in diameter) rare earth magnets. They seem strong enough.

I hear ya, trimming magnets sucks.

Just use the basemaker page at litko to make the exact size, or a little under that you need, problem solved, most laser shops will make custom sizes as well.

This was my solution.

I turned the box (representing hundreds of hours of painting) fully upside down and nothing moved let alone fell out, I was that confident in the strength of the system.

Sorry to hear about your Litko woes, I just ordered a ton of them

For GW figs, Gale Force 9 really is the way to go. Highly recommended.
