Just moved to Columbus, looking to get into Flames of War or other historicals. There any clubs or wargamers around?

Columbus is in the middle of the HMGS Great Lakes Region, lots of folks playing historicals, check them out here;

hmgsgl.org

Advance The Colors, HMGSGL's flagship convention, is in Springfield next month, not far from Columbus, and they are hosting a Flames of War National event so if you like FoW you should check it out.

Join the HMGS-Great Lakes Chapter.

Check out The Guard Tower, 3600 Trabue Rd., Columbus, Ohio. (614) 488-4311.

There is also a place on High Street called The Soldiery. It looks very much like a 70s vintage comic shop but they do have a little historical gaming.

Central Ohio Gamers Association. Meets 2nd Sat of the month at Ravenstone Game Store, 1675 Karl Rd. Columbus.

Other groups include Columbus Maneuver Group, an Aerodrome group, Mid-Ohio Gamer's Group and The Miniatures and Gaming Assoc at The Ohio State University,as well as gamers who don't necessarily belong to any group in particular.

There are a lot of gaming opportunities in Columbus, Ohio.

The HMGS-GL convention "Advance the Colors" will be in Springfield, Ohio (easy drive from Columbus) in two weeks.

79th Pa, I think Advance the Colors is September 20-22.

If you intend to do any plastic figures, forget the Guard Tower. The only thing that they will carry is metal. They started trying plastic with some boxes of FF, but dropped the idea completely.

If Aerodrome(tabletop WW1 air minis combat) is your bag,there's the Guardians Aerodrome Group. They meet at one of the Columbus Public Library branches,near the historic Camp Chase Cemetery. Near intersection of Hague and Sullivant . This Saturday from 2PM to 9 PM,but usually on 2nd Saturday of the month unless otherwise indicated.

Thanks for all the suggestions – looks like Columbus is a pretty good place to be for miniature wargaming. I'll definitely join the HMGSGL and check out some of the local stores.
