…Consoling a Woman.

"One of the weirdest, most awkward parts of a relationship is knowing how to react when the other reaches their limit and shoots a geyser of saline out of their eyeholes. At least it is for men -- I obviously can't speak for women because of all this dong. But it seems to me that women are just as baffled at a man's lack of knowledge on how to react in those moments, as men are when a woman has them.

I can't fix that. Hell, I don't know if anyone can … but I can at least explain why we turn into drooling Bleeped texts when we see you crying…"

I find shouting "grow up and get over it" in a well intentioned manner to be of little help.

Gear Pilot07 Aug 2013 4:00 p.m. PST

They cry when they are happy, sad, or angery. I don't try to figure them out any more.

OSchmidt Inactive Member12 Aug 2013 5:44 a.m. PST

It's quite simple. But it took me 10 years to figure it out and I didn't get it till my mid 30's (I'm 65 now).

Women just want you to listen to their problems. They don't want you to solve them. In most cases their problems are not solvable So don't try and fix them, don't give them advice, just hug them and mutter consolingly -"there there"-- "there there" and no matter how "wrong" you think they are always get them to think they are right.

One of the best advices I had heard my friend.!

…. or you could say (and try to fathom the consequence)… Honey, if I agreed with you, we'd both be wrong.

I may make the occasional sexist joke, usually just for fun to get my wife to shake her fist at me, but the fact is that I don't see much difference on an individual level between the sexes.
People are people.

I have older friends and family members that seem to live with this mental segregation, but most people I know my age and younger don't think like this.

I have 5 younger sister, two daughters, and a wife. I'm not counting my mom in this.

Women are still unfathomable. I've learned that no matter what I say, it will be wrong. So I don't normally say anything, if at all possible. Otherwise, when a response is required, I fish for hints as to the correct answer.

On the positive side, no matter how an argument with the Mrs goes, I always seem to get in the last words. Those words are, invariably, "Yes, Dear".

It's well known and long been a source of comedy that men do not understand women, but some comments were tasteless, not that anything can be seen now, oddly.

DrJackson Inactive Member27 Feb 2014 5:46 p.m. PST

Yes, tasteless but the norm for this sub-board.

Paint Pig Inactive Member27 Feb 2014 5:48 p.m. PST

Tastless indeed, instead of deleting the responses the whole bloody thread should be nuked, what sort of arseclown starts a thread like this and thinks it wont get out of hand with the mythopoetic men's movement.

StarfuryXL527 Feb 2014 6:40 p.m. PST

Thread necromancy only leads to no good.

I think the board itself was feited ill.

The actual problem seems to be with trolls posting snarky comments (I'm not referring to you, but to some of the posters whose comments were removed).

You don't need to understand, you just need to find the right partner and then learn to do as you're told. Works just fine.
Of course if you do find the right partner you escape things like 'I want you to paint the lounge' with things like 'I want you to paint my new ACW limbers…the ones you have n't bought me yet.'

Hmm, now who could that particular He Man Woman Hater club member possibly be? 8)=

You trying to tell us something…?

Stepman304 Mar 2014 1:01 p.m. PST

Hey Ditto I was the one making "misogynistic" comments. Maybe what I said was insensitive, I'm not a real sensitive kinda guy, blame it on the culture I was raised in and worked in all my life, but I suppose I'll take everyones feelings into consideration from here on out…

Now perhaps it's time to address another TMP member who behaves in a similar matter in most of his posts? Very respectfully, I think the editor may wish to check with some of the female members of TMP.

Have a talk with Editor Julia, she's the one who does most of the forum policing these days.

I think I have discovered the answer to one of those "unanswerable questions"--"Does this make my <whatever> look fat?"
Correct answer <cue the lustful voice, leer, and playfully serious grab at the part in question> "Yeaahhhh, but only in the right places!"

OSchmidt Inactive Member15 Apr 2014 6:04 a.m. PST

Dear Capncarp

Nice try but won't work. It will in fact only get you into more trouble "for always thinking about sex! Is that ALL you consider me to BE!" Trust me, it's at times like that you have to feign sleeping, playing dead, or having a seizure.

They cry when they are happy, sad, or angery. I don't try to figure them out any more.

Also cry once a month when seeing sad commercials (that's adverts on TV for the British version). Coincides with increased chocolate uptake

Honestly guys…obedience is the key. 'Do as your telt' shall be the whole of the law.
I'have not been told to make this post, and most certainly not under a threat of any kind.

OSchmidt Inactive Member19 Sep 2014 12:19 p.m. PST

By the way do you want to know how to defeat them and turn the tables?
